House Water Filter

Several months ago there was a good thread on in-line water filters.

Now it is time to replace the House/coach canister filter. Does anyone have a good suggestion on a replacement cartridge?

I purchased my last in a 2 pack at Walmart for about 8 bucks. Standard whole house charcoal filters.

Carbon can attract bacteria, which thrive in a carbon environment. If you get a carbon type filter make sure it has KDF media, which will prevent growth inside the filter. Personally, I use the Hydrolife C2063 element, which I get from RVupgrades - a company owned by Bill Rowell, the original founder of iRV2. It fits right in the original housing.

Mark, do you use this as a replacement for the filter inside the wet bay? I'm assuming it's not used in conjunction with your soft water treatment setup?

Thanks, Brian

Yep, this is the wet bay replacement filter that all water passes through before entering the coach. After that the water splits of to the HL-170 in-line filter that feeds the fridge and galley drinking water dispenser. After that the water goes to the softener for the rest of the coach. The softener is protected by an inexpensive melt-blown pre-filter to extend the life of the softener media.

Thanks Mark. I hope you attend a rally sometime that we are at. I would love to see all of your "mods" up close.
