How do you get on top of your Entegra

I haven't had the occasion yet but I'm curios how you guys have managed to get on top of your coach without damaging it or yourself? Thanks all

Use the ladder and step on the traction strips. I noticed that a tech that got on my roof scratch it trying to crawl instead of stepping into the roof.

I don't have a built in ladder. I was thinking about an extension ladder with the legs covered but was hoping for feedback from some with experience or a better idea. Thanks

Here's a link that contains some previous Entegra threads that may assist.

At home I use a wooden extension ladder that my Dad had when I was a kid. I extend it about 17 feet and lean it against the drivers side faux awning just forward of the roof drip/drain (puts ladder right outside the drivers window). I then climb up and secure the top with a cargo strap to the forward most awning support so the top cannot slide. Then I have my wife or a helper stand on each leg at the base to keep it from kicking out and climb up and over the faux awning and onto the roof. Be sure the ladder extends at least a couple of feet above the awning so you have something to hold onto when getting onto and off the roof.

I keep one of these in my storage bay so I can access the roof when on the road. It works pretty well. I keep it as vertical as possible since the midpoint joint looks kinda weak. Don't forget to secure the top!

17 Ft. Type 1A Multi-Task Ladder Folding Ladder System

Good Luck with your new coach.

I carry the Little Giant ladder (stable and solid) and use pipe insulation to cover the ladder area that touch the coach. I climb on from the rear.

I also have the same ladder from Harbor Freight. 17' model. Works well. Most important, it fits in my basement on its side. On my 15 classic, it sits on its side right in front of the basement refrigerator. The only modification is that I bought one of those foam rubber "noodles" and slit it down lengthwise and add those to the side of the ladder where it is going to touch the awning case. I climb up with the ladder against the passenger side Girards (the real awnings), and have my wife brace the bottom of the ladder to make sure that the feet do not slip out as I step off the ladder to the roof. Works fine. Been up there 5 or 6 times. Will set you back about $120 if you wait for a sale maybe $10 less. You can spend twice that for essentially the same ladder at Lowes.

I opted for the little giant ladder instead of the Harbor freight. My main decision was I wanted the lower weight of the little giant vice the Harbor freight. So far it has worked out great. I also use the pool noodle trick. Works great… Also I don't lean the ladder against the awnings. I try to either put it on the rear or on the rear slide either passenger or driver side. Just makes me feel better I guess - just personal preference…

I use a 15.5 foot telescoping ladder from Home Depot. It extends well above the roof for a safe hand hold. Had to order it on line. Also use foam pipe insulation to cushion against the slide out awnings. I store it on it's side up against the X bracing along with a 3 step folding step stool.

I have what I affectionately call a "finger pinching piece of crap" little giant. I drape small cotton detailing towels on each end that leans against the coach. On our 14 DEQ it fit perfect between the two slides on the door side. On the 16 44A I have used it a few different places, with best IMO, being along the slides near the rear of the coach. Other than the occasional pinched skin while adjusting the ladder configuration, the little giant works great for many other tasks, besides just getting on the roof. In both coaches we can easily store it in the bay directly behind the slide tray. I lay down, on edge against the x frame, it never moves and is handy to get in/out.

I carry a Little Giant ladder and have a few noodles for pool use that I purchased at the dollar store. Cut a slit in them and place over the ladder to prevent damage to the rig. I get up on the drivers side between the slides. The rear is a little harder due to the cross bar on top.

I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/Xtend-Climb-7...7574767&sr=1-2

Shorter/lighter versions of the xtend&climb will not allow safe access. This one goes tall enough to allow you to hang on until you can "step-off" at roof level. I usually go up the drivers side with ladder between slides close to rear slide, but can also go up on rear. Pool noodle pieces for protection as others have mentioned. I feel much safer using this than any coach mounted ladder I've used.

Position it on it's side vertically and strap to some of the x-bracing in the basement so it really doesn't take up much space, just heavy to manhandle.

I don't get on the roof. If something needs to be done up there - then I hire it out!
