How is everyone cleaning their aluminum wheels?

Mine look weather beaten...almost like pitted, but look like small "bumps" on them

In other words the clear coat is pealing off. Your best option is to dismount the tires, and take or send them to a specialist who can strip and recoat them.

I know having this done on an Audi A8 this cost was $70/wheel. Result looked better than new. No idea cost for these wheels.

If you'd rather do this yourself, I use Flitz polishes with their buffer balls. Stuff is amazing.

Nuvite

Nuvite Chemical Compounds Corporation - Metal Polishing NuShine II System

Have not used on MH yet. But it does a heck of a job on my pontoon.

Be careful not to use chrome polish on the aluminum after you've done the wheel hub - leaves streaks that are virtually impossible to remove.

Be careful as to what you use. The wheels are coated. look at your wheel, get the information and go on line to see what the manufacturer recommends. Once you buff or use any type of polish on them you will be constantly doing it. Without a seal on the aluminum (like shark skin, clear coat etc....) aluminum will dull rapidly if exposed to a harsh environment such as a 40,000 pound bus going down highways. If yours are pitted you may have a warranty issue with the wheel manufacturer. call them and see what they say about it.

If you are driving a 2013 and you avoided sand blasting storms they should be shining and smooth to the touch.

it has been a while since i looked at what i use but i did get it from the wheel manufacturer and it is just a spray and wipe it off and they shine. That was the only product they recommended.

Good luck and if I find what the manufacturer recommended I will post it.

Are you sure they are coated? I called CS a while back and they told me uncoated wheels. Maybe different in the cornerstone?

Red face

I visit other forums and a thread on of them addresses the issue of polishing aluminum wheels in detail. If the wheels are coated it will have ACCSHIELD stamped on them. Do not try to polish them. If they have ACCURIDE stamped on them you can polish. The most recommended polish was Zepher pro 40. We have used Mothers before on other coaches and gets the job done but we understand that Zepher pro 40 is a lot better. Check your wheels, ours is stamped ACCURIDE and I am thinking all of Entegra models are the same.

I ask at Spartan three weeks ago and was told they have not used coated wheels in the last six years, didn't ask about the K-3.

I stand corrected my wheels do not have the accushield label. I did find the product that I was told to use. It is made by Alcoa and it is called PDQ. Looking at the bottle it says to use it on Aluminum Wheels and can be used between polish. Works good for my current wheels and my previous MH.

Just as an fyi, a lot of hot rod guys will polish aluminum wheels with just windex for the quick shine. Amonia seems to work well for the quick shine. They swear by it. Just a thought.

Interesting, Mike, in that you sometimes see posts that warn against ammonia as a part of the Windex line. The Summitt folks also recommended Windex for the stainless steel skirts.
