How many does a DEQ sleep?

We were almost ready to buy a new DEQ (can't decide between Anthem and Aspire) when our salesman said it sleeps 2 and "an occasional guest." He said the couch does not make into a bed but we have seen a picture showing it folding out into a double or queen size bed.

We have grandkids that will travel with us once in a while so don't want a coach that only has one bed. Does the couch in both DEQ models fold out to a bed?

We're going back to the dealer tomorrow to do a detail comparison and mentally pack our gear to see where things will go.

If it will comfortably sleep a couple grandkids we will have to decide between Anthem and Aspire; $45-60k price difference will buy a lot of diesel!

Anthem DEQ L-shaped couch makes into a large full size (seems larger than full but not a queen) bed. We haven't measured.

We've had our 12 year old granddaughter and 10 year old grandson stay with us separately, however, they could have both slept on it at the same time if we'd chose to have them both over at the same time. That still leaves room for an air mattress and a sleeping bag on the floor in the living area.

My 26 year old son stayed with us and slept on it and was fine (he's 6'3")

It is an air mattress with electric pump and a very nice cover.

As far as Anthem versus Aspire, the IFS, Girards, tiled shower, all electric, diesel aquahot, dishwasher, and other differences were worth the extra money. We also liked the color choices better in our full time home.

Good luck.

Room for 2+

In our DEQ the inflatable sofa bed is the best I have ever used. We had guests and let them sleep in the bedroom to pamper them and since we are more accustomed to RV life slept on the sofa bed. My previous Monaco had a sofa bed I wouldn't sleep my dog on, but the DEQ air bed is very nice. We have had six in the RV on occasion and had kids on air beds on the floor. We have also used camping cots on the floor. Some RVs have a lot of beds but I think 4 is the max unless their all family in the DEQ. I am not sure if the couches in the DLQ and Other floor plans have multiple sofa beds or just one. I do think our 95% useage of the DEQ is for the two of us and I think it is the nicest floor plan to live in. I would hesitate to buy a floor plan for the 5% use unless you have visiting kids/grand kids a lot.

IMHO

Great info, thanks!

Now all we have to do is decide between Anthem and Aspire. I understand the differences, we just need to decide how important they are to us, we appreciate the input and opinions!

TXBart,

We bought 2013 Aspire 42DEQ. Our L-shaped sofa has a Queen w/air over coil Dream mattress. You can sleep 4. The sofa bed is exceptionally comfortable.

In regards to value, we took the Aspire over the Anthem, and had trouble justifying the extra expense for occasional use. We live in Florida and like the LP Aqua Hot, which doesn't stink out your neighbors. DW didn't want a dishwasher because it attracts bugs when we store the RV (we can't store it plugged in). The Girard awnings are a bit difficult in windy conditions. I've talked to several people who lost them when a wind gust flipped them over the top of the coach. The chassis is identical except we don't have independent front suspension. I drove both coaches and frankly didn't feel much difference. Tile shower....ok, that's kinda cool.

Now if I was full timing and boondocking, taking out the propane tank for more storage, 8 batteries, and two inverters might entice me, but adding it all together it's about $25K.....

That buys a lot of diesel fuel.

We just got back from my wife's first look at the Anthem and Aspire. DEQ is definitely the floor plan we want but we are still conflicted on which level appeals to us. I am afraid I may end up regretting not paying the extra $ for the Anthem but as others have said the difference buys a lot of diesel fuel.

I read that the real dollars difference is about $55,000.00. That will buy 13,750 gal. of fuel at $4.00 per. At 7.5 MPG that is 103,125 miles! I have the correct unit (for me) on order. If I was going to go to Colorado skiing a few times a year, full-timing, or going to use the unit in the winter North of the Mason-Dixon line, the decision may have been different.
