How much aqua hot fluid consumption is normal?

We have been in the motorhome travelling since Friday last week and I checked the fluid reservoir this morning. Its empty. How much fluid consumption is considered normal?

How old is the coach, has the AH been used before? It is normal on a new unit to have air in the system that bleeds off with use. Some tanks will be completely empty, others just need a little to top off.

Listing the year of your coach in your signature would be helpful to help answer your questions.

I don't advise consuming any Aqua-Hot fluid but a couple of glasses of wine or beer a day is OK.

Non - or minuscule to do evaporation. Only when I had entrapped air, that "burped" its way out over a period of weeks did I have to add fluid.

It's a 14 Cornerstone (new to us) and we just had the AH pumps replaced so it's all new service. We put half a jug in this morning. Will monitor it over the next few days.

It appears that whoever did the service did not finish the job. You probably have a lot of air in the system which needs to be worked out over time.

A normal Aqua-Hot should not consume any coolant under normal operating conditions except for some very minor evaporation.

Hopefully you don't have some leaks that are causing the loss of fluid.

I also added fluid after the pump replacement. A lot of air in the new pumps and lines that drained when the pumps were changed. I took me 2 days after the pump change to get rid of the air lock I had.

I had my pumps replaced at the factory and never had to add a drop.

Bob, you had someone at Entegra that did the job right. Probably filled it from the bottom and used the air bleed valve on top of the AH as it should be. I had an AH certified tech that must have slept through class. I have now learned that he did nothing right on the pump change and bleeding the air.

If the tech does not do the pump change correctly, they will leave air in the system. I learned a lot from your post when you flushed your fluid. Thank you for linking the service manual, I have almost memorized it The knowledge has come in handy with the conversations I have been having with AH.

Other than simply letting it do its thing that I should be doing to get rid of the possible air in the system?

Your adding the 1/2 gallon of fluid probably did it. Keep an eye on it for the next couple of weeks of use.
Page 114 explains air in the system you experienced from the tech not purging the system. http://www.aquahot.com/aquahot.com/m...nual_REV_E.pdf

I replaced my pumps myself. When I did mine I had to drain my system because I replaced all pumps and hoses. Takes at least a 5 gallon container. I will not go into all I did but when I refilled and before I ran my pumps I had to add about 1 12oz water bottle. I then ran all my pumps by using the method that AH says to use and added another 12oz water bottle. My system has been used almost constantly, as we live in the coach, and I have not had to add any fluid. The level will vary a minor amount based on use which causes temp of fluid in AH heat tank to vary. The old expansion/contraction thing. When ours was new I had to add some because it is almost impossible to get all the air out when first filled. Production time does not allow enough time to really run the system to purge all air and also driving the coach down the road will cause air pockets to move and be easier to vent out exp tk. Just check the tank each time you stop at a CG or if parked for a long time and using system at least once a week.
