Ours never worked, we seem to not have a lot of frozen so a bag of ice works for us.

Newaire works for us

Our TT fridge doesn't have an ice maker. We've used a New Aire brand portable that has worked flawlessly for the last 3 years. Just pour in a gallon of water when needed and within a half hour, we have enough ice cubes for about 4 coctails!! It makes about 26 lbs of ice per day. At the end of the day we put any remaining ice in the freezer or when necessary into our cooler. We shut it off at night (dropping cube noise keeps DW awake). It also eliminates constantly opening the freezer door for ice.

As an added benefit we bring it into the house to supplement our house fridge icemaker for parties. For about $100 its worth every penny!

Wouldn't be without one...

Safe and happy travels

Samsung service has repaired our refrigerator icemaker about 3 or 4 times. I have lost count of the number service called. The only good news was it did not cost anything. From what I was able to get from the service technicians, there have been 2 or 3 upgrades in what they call icemaker service kit. But, from my experience one of the key factors in getting the icemaker to work is the replacement of the main control board located in the back of the refrigerator. The control board has gone through various revisions.

About 3 months ago Samsung offered to pay me around $900 to buy me out. I decided to take the buy out and look for a replacement. But in the intrim I purchased the icemaker service kit which includes the main control board. Replacing the board is a big deal on my floorplan becausing pulling the refrigerator out of the slide means dismantling top trim. So I just replaced the icemaker part and the water heater tube for starters. After about 24 hours I was getting ice again. However, I should note, my main control board had been replaced for the second time about 8 months prior.

I tried those portable icemakes before I purchased the icemake repair kit. The ice you get from the portable icemaker is what is referred to as chewable ice or soft ice. Our portable unit, just like the one referred to in one of the post, lasted about 3 weeks and then it just stopped. The portable icemaker is not a good replacement for refrigerator freezer ice, in my opinion, but it is better than no ice.

I would suggest to try to get the Samsung buy out and replace the unit. When I get back to Texas I am going to replace this refrigerator before it stops working totally.

How easy is it to replace the refrigerator?

We are having a similar issue with the icemaker. Thanks to the information posted on this thread, I called Samsung today and they have scheduled a free repair for the icemaker.

We have had a second issue with the compressor shutting down periodically. It requires removing the shelving and rear panel and then melting all the frozen ice in the back with a hair dryer. Samsung CS said that they would address the icemaker issue at this time and we would have to call them again for the second issue to be addressed.

I changed out the refrigerator in another motorhome but is was not an Entegra. I had to removed the passenger and driver seat and took the refrigerator out the door. However, to do this it was necessary to remove the refrigerator door and freezer drawer to reduce the size and weight of the unit. Of course, before you would try this method you need to take careful measurements. I have heard that most repair shops remove either the windshield or side window to get the units out. That in itself can cause other problems.

Removing the refrigerator from the slide on my 44B is a big deal because of the clearance required between the ceiling and the bracket attached to the top of the refrigerator. I received advise from Rob(voltdoc) who has made several post on irv2. I had to remove the top trim on the slide and even then it was a very close clearance. There have been reports by some that they were able to remove the refrigerator from slide with no problem. I guess they were lucky.

I will not attempt to replace my refrigerator. I will just just do the coordination of getting a replacement that will fit and pay a shop to do the heavy work. I can take care of getting it in and out of the slide.

Your compressor shutting down sounds like a sensor and/or defrost fan malfunction. When the technician comes out to work on the icemaker that would be a great time to get the compressor issue addressed. When Samsung fixed our refrigerator they had the repair facility contact us directly. If that is the case I would mention the compressor issue. This might save you a trip charge. I am assuming Samsung is not paying for this call unless it is covered by the compressor warranty.

IMPORTANT: You need to have your unit accessible so the technician can get to the back of the unit. My experience has shown the technicians will not disassemble things to pull your unit out.

FYI because of a class action suit Samsung is repairing these refrigerators (RF series) free of charge.

Have a repair guy coming in a few hours to install an ice maker repair kit including new circuit board.

They required me to roll out the refrig so the could get to the back and install the board, was not an easy task to do.

To get the Refrig to roll out need to:

1. Remove freezer locking bracket on right side.
2. Take off covers on each leveling feet and remove 2 screws. Turn leveling feet CC as far as you can go.
3. Remove screws on plate above the refrig.
4. Put thin hard plastic cutting boards under each leveling feet so that feet did not damage the carpet when been moved forward.
5. I removed the freezer before doing above, makes it much easier to get to leveling feet and also to put a dolly under from bottom of frig to tilt it up a bit to get the cutting boards under the feet.

If you are having issues with your Samsung refrigerator ice maker call Samsung customer service 800-726-7864. They will ask for the model number of your refrig, it can be found on a label on the left side below the ice maker. My model # was RF23HCEDBSR/AA
