Ideas on Water Leak

While driving in our first REALLY hard rain storm (very windy) we had a slight leak behind the passenger overhead cabinet. Just enough to puddle on the dash tray and a little dribble down the inside of the windshield in front of the passenger.

I'm assuming that's not normal. Wandering if you guys have an idea on something I might check or is this a dealer issue? Thanks

There should not be any leaks, period. My windshield leaks when I pressure wash the rubber seal in that same area. Never leaked during a rain though.

So your leak could be there, a clearance light, front cap to roof joint and possibly where the door awning is attached to the front cap. A pressure washer may help you find the source. Good luck.

We had that problem with our 2015. Turned out it was markers lights across top end cap. They took them off and resealed them and put gaskets behind the lights and no more leaks.

Did they not have gaskets?

The are installed with a 1/2 pound of silicone each. Sometime the installer does not get enough silicone on the back side, or there is a void. If there is a pinhole, at 70 mph water will find it.

Also the holes for the wires are 1 inch, over kill for installing marker light wires making it harder to seal. The factory lights need that hole as they are not flush on the back side like replacements lights are. This is on a Classic.

They added something new to what was already there with more sealant didn't ask exactly what. I know others have had the same problem. One call to them and they should be able to tell you.

Sorry to hear that news Mike. I also would suspect clearance lights BUT water leaks are strange and where they run to can be a long ways from the origination. A call to CS might give you some other places to check.

Good Luck ! Hi to Chris from us.
