If it aint broke...

Decided to update the Vegatouch to the most recent V1.4.0 software.

Everything went fine except it has lost communication with the kitchen window shades, both day and night.

Is there an easy fix or will I need to make a phone call tomorrow?

Thanks.

Reboot 12v power after all updates. If the first time doesn't to it, reboot again leaving it off for at least a minute. See if that works, if so it was normal.

12 Volt reboot fixes a lot of VegaTouch problems.

Been following this forum for many months including prior to ordering back in August. The amount of information here is invaluable!

I tried the 12V reboot yesterday and once again today and left off for 1 minute. The kitchen shades are still a no-go.

The 12V system was rebooted at the "salesman switch" by the door. Should I reboot from the breakers?

I am sure it is a pretty simple fix just a little above my pay grade.

Thanks.

No you are doing what is necessary. The shades are on that power source so you are doing what needs to be done.

Now, my next call Monday would be to VegaTouch and loop them into this problem. You may have a single module in the software boot that is not working. They can access your VegaTouch CPU remotely and I think they should be able to tell you what to do, or do it themselves. It is doubtful that both shades failed at exactly the same time you did the software update so I would be betting on a software problem.

Keep us advised about what you find.

Gary

Sorry that didn't work. Check if there are any "updates" on the left side of the screen or any error messages.

Will do. I thought a call to Vegatouch may be inline versus to Entegra as Vegatouch provides the software updates.

and in a way that old saying ... "If it ain't broke, dont fix it", really does not apply here. Chuck will tell you from experience that if you dont stay reasonably current on updates, you will get to a place that you have not made changes that need to be made for following updates to do what they need to do. Chuck failed to update on a regular basis for his last coach, and then got to the place that he could not update because he was too far out of spec.

I left a message this morning for tech support at Firefly.

They called back around 2:00 PM and we went through the issue I am having. Was told it will have tp go upstairs and they will get back with me.

Still waiting on a return call.

I also let Joyce Skinner at Entegra know and she will put in my file.

I did determine that the shades will work in conjunction with the SOFA shades but not by itself.

Were they working correctly before the update? If so, it should be simple software correction.

Yes, they were working prior. Hopefully a simple software correction will take care of the issue.

With the newer models I have learned the Vega Tough updates have sometimes been model specific, 1.4. is also a general maintenance update. More than likely just a code that was missed for the Z model. I am sure programming is on it and will put an update out. Thankfully it was a small item and the not the AC or heat like some have experience before. The manual override switches for the AC's are above the door for that reason.

I find it amazing the programmers can keep all of the models with different floor-plans all working on one system. Once it goes past reboot, it's above my pay-grade.
