If you would like to assemble a 10 in. DI rinse unit

Using Doggy Daddy's DI rinse unit idea, I just assembled one and thought I would pass on the links for purchasing the parts. Took less than 5 minutes to have it rinse ready. I put this one together to use with my small pressure washer, but small enough to easily store in the basement.. My hand held stick is not large enough to work with the pressure washer, but I will still use it for small areas.

In addition to the linked parts, 2 brass shut off valves to close off the canister and connect the hoses. One 3/4 X1 3/8' nipple (gray PVC Lowe's) for connecting the outgoing shut off valve to the canister.

8 inch piece of 1 1/2 inch PVC with an end cap used for a resin tamper when filling the cartridge

Not needed, but I purchased 2 large Y's and 2, 6 foot hose reel hoses all at Walmart. This time of year they have a good selection and good quality parts in the garden section I am going to play with one incoming hose, a bypass to the pressure washer with tap and DI water.

Parts for DI unit $41. 5 lbs of resin $36. which should last me 2 years.

Looks great Chuck - thanks for doing the legwork on this. I decided to try to put it together really quick before we hit the road next week and was worried that the resin wouldn't get here in time. Found the same stuff on Amazon in a smaller package, but couldn't be sure it would get here either. Then found this pre-filled, refillable cartridge on Amazon and I'm gonna try it, then just order more bulk resin at the good price you found when I go thru this one. Thought I'd post the link in case anyone else might have a need for speed.

How many washes do you think one cartridge full will last out west? (Colorado for us all summer this year )

Glad to share the links. Sharing ideas is what is all about. With the experimenting I have done with DI units, I just can't see how one costing $450. can do a better job than one made with the same parts costing $50. Now they have a down rod for $60. to make the resin last longer. What? the resin only cost $36. Change the resin when needed With DI units, you can get as elaborate or as simple as one wants, in the end they all work the same to put out spot free rinse water.

I almost ordered a prefilled cartridge for $20. but the shipping was $14.95...I passed. Now that website is down, glad I didn't order from them The ebay resin link sent it Priority Mail, I had it in 3 days.

I lived in Colorado for 20 years where we had excellent water. My "guess" would be at least 4-5 rinses, maybe more.

Well I'm two for two on projects this week. Bought a Mobley At&T appliance last night and thanks to this post a new water wash kit tonight. Thanks for sharing...looking forward to washing and rinsing with a bit of sun.

Removes minerals and other contaminates. That way you can rinse your RV/car/truck after washing and have minimal need to wipe down for water spots. If you live in a place with hard water, or travel through and area with hard water, it will show up as spots on any hard surface washed and allowed to air dry. In particular, if your vehicle is a dark color these spots stand out like a sore thumb.

It takes me two to three hours to wash my 40' RV and wipe it down. With a deionized water unit I'm at about an hour.

Here is a commercial unit and what they do. No Jimbo is not kidding.

Do you have to use a pressure washer with this or can you use a hose from the house?
