Try it for a trip or two and see how the factory installed dome works for your needs. The first few years we traveled a dome worked fine. As our trips turned into 4+ months, then we upgraded.

As a full timer with Dish, and DW (in back) not watching the same types of shows as I do, I wouldn't be without Traveller. Now, for DW, when she is watching her program in the back and you switch channels up front, interrupting her show because your new channel is on another satellite...then you'll know...buy the Traveller (that's last sentence is VFR from DW's mouth to my keyboard).

However, when you are rolling and the queen wants to watch her midday soaps the Traveler becomes an issue. My existance demands the in-motion. You guys can laud the attributes of the Traveler all you want but when the rubber meets the road there are key requirements that must be met. It all depends in what queendom you are allowed to exist. Just saying.

I think we said up front that if you're going to watch going down the road, then the In motion is the antenna. No question. That's why I kept mine on top when I added the Traveller. I have the option to switch back when the next Jody Arias trial is on or :( depending on your perspective.

I am not familiar with Dish, but with DirecTV switching from dome to Travler requires a fairly lengthy receiver setup procedure and isn't a quick switch.

Your right. All the receivers have to reboot with the new satellite signal. Not a big deal when you are setting up to camp. I was thinking us the In Motion while in motion and the Traveler when we are camped. But did not want to buy the Traveler if the In motion is sufficient.

So in my experience, In Motion is great on the road...if there are no tall trees on the roadside. It get interference worse than the GPS or the Sirius XM.
In the campground, with In Motion, you're toast with any rain and sometimes with heavy dew falls. You can have NO obstructions from leaves, period.
Traveller is much less affected by rain (it has to be a thick thunderstorm to the SWto knock it off the air). Dewfall has no impact. I have pulled in signal as long as I have a partial SW view (the tree must be thick with leaves).
I'm not trying to talk you into Traveller. I'm simply telling you why I switched last Sept, after 8 months of frustration.
It really is your choice for what you want. Chocolate or vanilla ice cream. My observations have been validated by a number of folks in this and the technology forum.

We have both a dome inmotion and traveler (when parked). We use directv so to get around the reconfiguration issues we have a dedicated receiver for the inmotion which is wired into bomb (box of many buttons, or a/v matrix switch). It does have a financial impact for an extra receiver but solves all the configuration and DW requests (read orders).

I think for 6 or 7 bucks a month that's a smart way to go if you need in-motion.

Hi Jerry0312,
The "Next Generation Remote Control Extender" arrived from Amazon yesterday. I installed it per the instructions in my Dish remote and connected the emitter to the front of the Dish box. Then I turned Dish and the TV and Bose on in the lining room. After selecting a channel to watch, I moved to the bedroom, turned the TV on and clicked the Dish remote Guide button. Instantly, the guide appeared on the bedroom TV screen. All functions seem to work fine. If I understood your requirements correctly, this is a solution from Amazon for about $38. Perhaps you might want to give it a try.
