Induction cooktop

Has anyone had any trouble getting the induction cooktop to turn on? The standby lights are on but when I follow instructions in booklet it will not turn on. It does not allow setting heat or temp. TIA

Reboot it by turning the circuit breaker off and then back on. Leave it off for 30 seconds or so.

Do you have an induction capable pot on it? It will not work if a correct pot or pan is not touching the burner rings on the stove. A correct pot is one on which a magnet will stick to the bottom.

^^^^^^^^^^, plus the top will not get hot to the touch until a pot described above has been on then it will only be warm on the surface but pot will get real hot.

If you aren't sure if your pan is induction, and don't have a magnet handy, try a cast iron pan. They work very well with induction.

Are you sure the induction cooktop is not locked? This would be indicated by a red pilot light within the box with the icon of a lock.

And if it is locked, touch the up button and the down button simultaneously for a few seconds.

Also if the diameter of the base of the pot you are using is not sufficiently large the cooktop will not operate.

On our S&B induction, if the "standby" light is on, that is the lock feature showing the cook top is locked

It would be nice if the OP (TerrySt) would let us know if they got the cook top operating or if they still need help.

Thank you.

I would not have burned myself and ruined a cookie sheet if mine had a lock feature...I sure wish Entegra would have replaced it while we were there four weeks or so for repairs in November and December...I seem to have a love-hate relationship with it...LOL
