Is this legal??

As we were leaving Fort Wilderness this past Sunday the folks in the picture were hitching up to head out as well.

Looks like an accident waiting to happen...

Is this legal??

I don’t know with any certainty and it may vary state to state but if the motorhome’s GCWR is not exceeded and the Jeep has proportional braking with the motorhome my guess is yes.

legal or not

Neighbors come down to Ocala, Florida from Maryland with a 45 footer Kingaire towbaring a 4 door Sierra 2500 pickup to which is hitched a 28 foot enclosed trailer with golfcart, arleys, etc..... Quit the train. He runs a cord from the MH over the pickup directly to the trailer for lights and brakes. I'm sure it is not legal for many reasons but he has never been stopped. He is a long haul trucker so he pretty much runs straight thru running at night mostly stopping for a nap during the day. He is the type of guy who could talk his way out of anything so he just doesn't seem to worry about it.

Definitely not legal in Florida, and (in my opinion) unsafe in Any state. If I saw this on the road, I would stay clear and give it plenty of space!

It may not be legal in FL, but it's been done for many years in other states. Some states require the 2nd vehicle to be a 5th wheel. That single axle golf cart trailer is probably not required to have brakes in most states. However, he may be over the maximum length in some states. I know I would be. I am already over the maximum length just pulling our F150. I wonder if his tow bar is rated for the additional weight. Good thing about it is if he gets caught, his SO could drive the jeep and trailer.

This conglomeration looks like it could overpower the talents of the operator very easily. Legal or not stay clear of this crash on it's way to a crash site. Is having a golf cart really worth putting fellow driver's lives and equipment at risk? No. IMHO

It may not be legal in FL, but they must not enforce it much. I have lived in SW FL for 30 years and I have seen Snowbirds with setups like that every year. The photo of the rig posted made it all the way to Orlando......looks like he is headed back the same way as he wasn't stopped before getting to Orlando.

Here in Colorado I see pickup trucks pulling fifth wheel, pulling a boat or trailer of quads and just as often motorhome pulling pickup, pulling boat.

It's legal in CO, during hunting season you will see that a lot. In all the years I lived there, I never saw a triple overturned in any of the mountain passes.

However, it is not in FL, but you sure see it during snowbird season.
