By the way, DirecTV is almost impossible to work with in a mobile scenario. I have had both... Direct for ~ 3 years and the Dish for ~ 4 years and I will never have, or advise ants been 4 years, but their customer service people just don't understand how or why anyone would move locations and assume everyone that moves is lying or trying to get away with something illegal. I quite accurately and literally would spend hours on the phone with them simply trying to explain that I was now in St. Louis but yesterday I was in Chicago.... they always thought I must be in a mobile home (the double wide or single wide stationary type) and thought I was trying to pull a fast one on them. It was nothing but frustration!!!!My blood pressure would elevate anytime I would need to talk to DirecTV.

So you can change your sat over to Dish for about $350 and it is money well spent. No elevated blood pressure. Good service, no arguments... Bliss. Do yourself a favor, and dump them quick and soon.

Hi Gary -
See attached.
I have:
-1 Insignia NS-50D510NA19 (living room).
-2 Insignia NS-32D310NA31 (overhead cockpit and exterior)
-1 Insignia NS-40D510NA21 (bedroom).

When I went online and looked up the model for the 50 inch (living room) it said it was not smart capable.
Thanks!!

Gary - Now that was a new piece of information re the dish conversion! (Someone else also stated that). I thought I would either have to get a ‘traveler’ for dish (not happening. Not going to have to heap that thing out every time I set up camp and pad lock it to a table) or replace the sat for a dish dome on top of rv.
Will ponder that conversion kit for sure.
I like the dish on the go thing (direct tv doesn’t offer it).
Thx!

Easy way to make your TVs smart TVs is to add an Amazon Firestick stick to each TV about $40 each to one of the unused HDMI ports. You can then add any streaming app, Netflix etc to the Firestick The other HDMI for your Direct TV connection. That will solve the problem.
Non 4K TV Firesticks are only $29. each. A very easy way to solve the smart TV problem and load your direct tv app
I do that for DishAnywhere, works fine.

What Chuck said is what we were messing with last month.
In our Classic, we have “dumb” TV’s…kind of like the owner.
With excellent camp WiFi, we determined both FireStick and ChromeCast work well off the TV’s.
However, our preferred viewing is using our Dish Sat with our Trav’ler.
The SAT signal should be going to your receiver, then to a splitter(mine is in the basement), from there, each HDMI line to a tv.
I only bring this up because I am on my second splitter.
They do fail, but are cheap.
You can bypass/test the splitter by plugging your receiver directly into your main tv. (I’m making an assumption you are getting a signal from DirectTV at your location).
Before you start unplugging stuff, temporarily, use some masking tape and label each end of each HDMI line so you know where it goes/comes from.

Brobox has the right idea for using Amazon FireStick(s) for your streaming but be forewarned that the world of trying to get affordable, dependable mobile high-speed internet is a whole other can of worms.
As an aside, the fact that Entegra would have installed those Insignia model TVs in 2021 is unconscionable. They are the lowest end of the BestBuy product line and they probably cost less than $750 retail for all 4. The 50” is actually discontinued now. So the OP was absolutely correct in that Entegra or Jayco or whoever did in fact install 4 “dumb” tv's in a coach from their “Luxury Coach” line. Maybe that was all they could get at the time (the old supply-chain/Covid excuse) and it was a decision between go with what they could get or not deliver the coach on time…who knows.

Many DVD players also have WiFi streaming capabilities. The OEM DVD players installed in my '18 Anthem each have streaming capabilities. It's been my experience that the DVD streaming selections aren't as varied as the dedicated devices (Fire TV, Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV, etc.).

Take care,
Stu

I had an Insigna dumb TV in my office for loading Firesticks with apps and programs for testing so I would not screw up one of the main TV's. (Sometimes referred to as Jail Breaking. ) It worked great with Firesticks to stream Football games, also my DISH Anywhere app, same as your Direct TV app you want to use.

Insignia now has Amazon Firestick TV's, so I upgraded from a 19 inch to a 24 inch from Amazon for $99. Believe it or not, it is one heck of a TV. Here in the office, it is just as sharp as the high dollar 75 inch in the family room. After my experience with 2 Insignias, I would not sell them short. All I had to do to get my DISH, was download the App, Direct TV app is already preinstalled in Firesticks. All you need to do on a Firestick is enter your subscription information, you will need a computer or tablet to enter the security code that comes up on the screen to the Direct TV sign in page website and your off and running. The instruction with the website address will be on the screen.

There are all kinds of YouTube video on setting up a Firestick for beginners, all the way up to as technical as one want to get with getting pay per view channels, etc. You can also subscribe to other services such as HBO, Paramout+ etc. all though a Firestick.
