Klunk in steering, 2017 Anthem
We have had an issue while driving at slow speeds and turning (ie in a truck stop or campground). We would occasionally get a fairly loud klunk that you could also feel in your feet while turning. Over the last several weeks it was happening more often. So we stopped by NIRV in Las Vegas and they diagnosed it as the need to rebuild our Bell Crank, which is a component of the front steering system. This is covered in Spartan’s service Bulletin, TSB 13-250-002.
After getting they part and replacing the klunk is now gone and good riddance to it. Note we have 60,000 miles on the RV.
FYI

My memory is that there has been a TSB out on that bell housing problem in some previous years.... Dont remember which, but 2017 or 2016 sounds about right.
Its always a good idea to ask any of your repair facilities to check with Entegra and Spartan's computer systems and see if there are any outstanding TSBs out for your coach....

Thanks for the heads up. When I was reading your post I was thinking the ball joint recall. I had forgotten about the bell crank. It pays to have the TSB checked with items like that as they TSB's are not always brought forward. Good reminder.

Be sure and lodge your concern with that specific issue with Entegra so they have it in their computer system as a problem also.
For some reason, the story that Spartan is ignoring issues more and more and blowing them off for no good reason is becoming a more common thread among owners.... Who the hell's responsibility would it be to investigate a "clunk" in the steering other than the company that manufactures the chassis. Be sure to get this resolved before your 3 year Spartan warranty expires, or anything, then, is definitely on your dime. Get every problem in the computer system so your concerns are logged and resolved, regardless of the calendar.

Is the Spartan Warranty from the date the coach is put in service?

Yes, the date from the sale of the new coach. Entegra reports the date to Spartan and it goes into their computer.
