Lawrenceville to Kentucky

Going from NIRVC Lawrenceville to Corbin, Ky. Anyone know an easier route than 85 to 285 to 75. Would prefer to miss Atlanta traffic. Other option would be what is a good time to do the interstate drive to avoid as much congestion as possible.
We are not towing this trip.

Stay away from morning rush hour (7 - 9) and afternoon rush hour 4ish to 6ish.

Atlanta always has a lot of traffic but the worst is downtown traffic. You are already fairly far out of downtown in Lawrenceville so .....

I have been through downtown at the right times and it was not a problem, and a few times at the wrong time.... If you find yourself in the wrong lane, you just need to carefully work yourself to the right lane as soon as you know you are positioned incorrectly. Even Atlanta drivers are willing to let you move in front of them if they know what you need to do !! Turn on your turn signals and be patient.

Just did that route day before yesterday. As Gary said avoid rush hour and it's not terrible. Yes there is a lot of traffic. Just plan lanes and stay safe. I left Lawrenceville at 5pm and went to Chattanooga arrived at 8pm. From there on to Nashville and beyond next day.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but, I don't see a pass thru Atlanta as necessary for a route from Lewisville (?Lawrenceville?), TX to Corbin, KY. Atlanta looks to be quite a bit out of the way. How about this:

I30 to Little Rock, I40 to Nashville, I65 to London, KY to I75S to Corbin. Shows at about 898 miles

OR

I20 to Birmingham, I59 to Chatanooga, I75N to Corbin. Shows at about 997 miles.

Neither of those routes goes near Atlanta.

Take care,
Stu

P.S. My choice would be the northern route with a stop in Memphis for some ribs at The Rendezvous (https://hogsfly.com/).

Stu, I had to laugh, a pilot getting lost. Lawrenceville is the store in the suburb of Atalanta. Don't feel bad, I get Lawrenceville and Lewisville confused as well. Much easier to say Dallas and Atlanta, just like their website

Please accept my sincere apology for the distraction.

Still, the ribs at the Rendezvous are worth the detour thru Memphis.

Take care,
Stu

P.S. You must have been laughing pretty hard, Chuck. ?atalanta?

A short walk away from The Rendezvous is the Peabody Hotel with this show daily:

When you're done watching the ducks, you can go for a nice walk on Beale Street:

Take care,
Stu

Stu....

Never anticipated a musical interlude.... tonight I am in the Rockies but just finished walking in Estes Park along the river and although not Memphis, a very peasant experience.... and not a whole lot different than Memphis, and the Marc Cohn tune was a nice ending of the day. Had to follow a heard of ~ 12 female and young elk and one huge bull managing his heard home. Lovely to see nature lives on. ....

I’ll take Estes park over Memphis any day. Lived in Memphis area for 18 years. Except for FedEx I didn’t leave much behind there, although did lose a flap off a DC-10 over Orange Mound.
Do like their barbecue and Beale street.

Estes Park is amazing but I’d really like to know where you are staying in Corbin. We usually end up overnighting at one of the Refro Valley campgrounds but would be very interested in a location in Corbin.

We are going to be at the KOA. Have used Renfro in the past but is too far a drive as tired as we will be at the time.

Look at Google maps with the option of using 985 to 441/23 to Franklin Nc, To Waynesville,NC to I40 to Knoxville. Good 4 lane most of the way, some mountains but they are easier than Atlanta. 6 mile and 11 minutes longer but far easier drive. We usually leave Georgia this way to avoid Atlanta
