Learned something new today
I’m grilling some toast for DW and myself. The entry door is closed and the security alarm is still on. A moment of inattention and I burn the toast. The smoke alarm goes off, and so does my house alarm. I had no idea the smoke alarm was wired into my security system.
Not much fun at 6AM. Good thing we’re moving today...

Actually, they are not connected. At least not directly. Your alarm system has a pair of glass breakage sensors. One is in the copilot's side console and the other back in the bedroom. They trip the alarm if they hear glass breaking. The sound of breaking glass has a certain frequency that is fairly high and this is what the sensor listens for. Unfortunately, if you have small dog or a cat with a collar that has small rabies or license tags on they can also trigger the alarm. Fortunately these sensors are adjustable and have rheostats mounted in the bathroom cabinet or inside the side console so that you can dial them down. Some smoke alarms can also make those high frequency sounds so I would consider dialing them down before you burn your next toast.

Thanks. I won’t turn them down but just tell the DW that only experience chefs can grill toast.

A similar scenario happen to us. The lesson I learned is that the smoke/co detector has a 5 year life span. It says right on the front of it "Replace after 5yrs". Ours started to just go off for no apparent reason and it would set off the house alarm when it did. Installed a replacement and all is well.

Putting silverware into the silverware drawer noisily is also enough to set off the glass break alarm.

I won’t ask how you know that.

Or smash an empty plastic water bottle, like those from Costco, and it too will set off the glass break alarm. [emoji41]

You can also defeat the glassbreak portion of the alarm system.

Hmmmmm our co detector just started going off randomly a couple of months ago. Twice over the last month when we went to the storage building to get the coach, the outside alarm was beeping and the co detector was beeping.

I am on my 3rd CO detector on my Classic. They don't last long. If yours is original, you did well.

My Co\O2 detector was going off in storage, and the pink Anti-freeze that I poured in the half bath toilet and sink p-trap was setting it off. If you winterize, you may want to disconnect it.
