Leaving the RV world for a bit.

Just sold our 2018 Aspire 44W. This is the one that Spartan upgraded with a new 20K front axle and double steering boxes, hoses and pump on engine for the extra oil flow. It has been a pleasure reading the informative post on these forums, and being able to share what little improvements I made to coach. I'm in Pa and the new owners are in Fla.
We may jump into a Super C but we are going to wait and see if our country's leaders ever get their heads out of their A$$ and get this fuel crisis figured out.
Until then safe travels to one and all.

Paul

Paul, we did the same and sold our ‘18 Aspire 44R. We may get back into RVing in the future, but at today’s prices and substantially reduced discounts that is becoming increasingly unlikely. As the prices of fuel and interest are increasing and the value of our retirement accounts are decreasing it becomes less and less likely that we will jump back into the lifestyle of the RV.

I can understand your reasoning.

Fuel is expensive right now and I don't expect it to change in the next 2-3 years. The option of waiting it out while your coach sits in the driveway and depreciates isn't a good option either. But owning an RV is never a good investment when you look at it from a purely financial point of view. It's a lifestyle.

The key is to determine how much value you place on traveling in an RV versus how much finances you have to support it. In our case we don't want to give that up, and are actually doing some preliminary work at looking at upgrading. If a person can shift some discretionary income from other expenses to their fuel budget you can still travel. Other options are shorter trips closer to home and staying longer in a spot rather than racking up miles between destinations that are spread out. These are options that can allow you to still enjoy RV travel.

Although there are times when it is prudent to step back for a while, shelve the expenses and wait for the economy to change, especially if you are running on a tight budget. It all depends on how much value you place on RV travel versus the cost of doing so.

I understand the potential desire for a Super C in the future. That's also one of our options.

We have RV'd since the early 80's and Full Timed since 2014 and all of us will face the decision of when to modify or depart from the RV Lifestyle at some point in time whether it be age , health , finances or just had enough of the travel . We've made the decision to transition from Full Time back to a house in the next year .
The 2016 Anthem we ordered , watched being built and have made so many memories with will go to another owner next year and we will make a decision on if we choose a smaller RV to occasionally get out of the Florida summer heat.
We knew the time would come when it felt right and it does !
