LED Awning Lights

Have two new strands to install from Girard, I remember. Reading somebody said silicone them to prevent movement. My question is do I silicone both front and rear on the front awning as well front and rear on the rear awning. Lights? Seems like you would.

Front and rear both awings, just the ends to prevent movement while driving etc... Hopefully they will last longer.

Hope they hold up better than the ones that are on my Cornerstone. Had to have 2 strands replaced already. Stand on door awning started to lose individual lights the first time I used it.

They have been replaced and we will be on the road on Thursday - We will see how they hold up.

I took Mikes advise and siliconed both ends of the awning lights. I was able the find brown silicone at Lowe's that matched the awning cover perfect. The end of the lights in the photo is the matching silicone....it doesn't show.
I use the same color on my S&B so that worked out well.

Mike,

Did you install the lights on the d/s of your new unit? I'm having them put in at Precision in a few weeks. I want to know if you have dimmers on that side. If you don't have them on the new one, I remember you installed the lights on your old Cornerstone--Was the driver's side on a dimmer? If not, was it extremely bright as others have mentioned? I am having a dimmer on p/s side and trying to get info on if it is needed on d/s side. As of now, I will get it. Do not want to intrude on any neighbor when in that situation. Any info for us?

Ron.

New style LEDs

My coach is having a new style LED installed as I write.

We had a set delivered a month ago but not yet installed. Entegra called and requested the light kit to be returned and they send an entirely new set they claim is much improved.

One note: the background tape is black in color (different from the other sets - this will be my third go).

Will report back as to how they are working out.

Ron, Maybe this might work in your situation.
I just ordered a pair of these dimmers for the factory installed awning lights. 12V RF Wireless Remote Switch Controller Dimmer for Mini LED Strip Light S | eBay

The wiring splices are already on the factory LED, so installing the dimmer will be a piece of cake. As soon as they get here, I'll post if they work. I am going to install them with spade connectors. If they don't work, or one has to be replaced it will be just a matter of plugging the wires back together or plugging in a replacement dimmer.

The factory wiring is already showing signs of rust and needs to be corrected anyhow.

Chuck,

You have LED's on your "dummy" awnings? That is what I am asking Mike.

I don't have LED on the dummy side "yet". When you had asked about a dimmer I thought these might work for you. Sorry if I mis-understood.

New LED strand provided by Girard (installed today) appear to be a softer white. Not nearly as "blue" and bright as the last version. I will look at them again this evening in the dark - might have a different opinion. Hopefully this will be the last set we need to install.

WDE, I will be looking forward to your new light report. We are outside people and plan to use ours a lot. It was also one of the reason we waited for the 2014. I am also on my third set and we haven't taken our first trip yet. When I install the new dimmers everything is going on "quick disconnects" where everything will be "plug and play", even new lights if needed.
