LED Stop lights on "Classics"

Just returned from a trip and noticed that on my passenger side, from a third to a half of the individual LED lights in my top 2 Turn/Stop lights are out and the problem seems to get worse at night as they are on continuously (more of the segments seem to shut off the longer the are illuminated. I need to replacee 2 of them as I think the individual LEDs are failing.

They look like classic Corvette stop lights from around 1988. Has anyone had to replace a light and found a source or manufacturer of the lights through a pathway other than ordering through a coach dealer or Middlebury? Anyone have a part number and price for those babies?

Gary

Gary it was a problem on the Classics when new. They are earlier Corvette lights. I have replace several automotive lights on eBay at the good prices. I know Hawgguy and DSL417 had postd about replacing those lights, but they might have still been under warranty. It looks like that are 98 Corvette lights but I am not at the MH to look. 1998 corvette tail lights | eBay

Had the same problem with my classic when it was about six months out of warranty. Replaced with Anzo lights from eBay. About $350 for the set, plug and play. They were on the couch in Quartzsite when we saw you, Gary.

I buy parts for my 1988 at Ecklers and they have a full set of 4 for about $260. Do you remember what you paid on eBay? Probably less. They replaced one bad light at my 2 year PDI which I did not even know was bad.... but now the two top lights are clearly nasty looking. As I say, the individual LEDs appear to shut down if they are on for progressively longer times like occurs with running lights at night so they look OK when you check them early in the evening (or during the daytime), and look progressively worse as you look at them later and later that night or with more and more use.

Classic owners..... this is something to check as this will cost us ~$400-500 to replace all of them, but we rarely see the problem unless we are running at night with all lights on.

(Not sure if they are LEDs or not, but GMPartsDirect has individual lights at $120 each)(Ecklers is better for a complete set of 4)

Wow. The invoice they gave me for the replacements from Entegra (warrantee) were an order of magnitude less than that. Think I might check a dealer out for the cost of ordering through Entegra (I'm thinking they were about $6 each from Entegra direct, but I don't have a copy of the invoice anymore).

Thanks Dave... I will try that path also. I think their new policy is that they wont sell to us anymore.... right?)

I'm thinking you can get a dealer or another RV repair place to put in the order. I'm hoping that I can get our stuff from Cherokee Farms in Foley ... I'm hopeful, anyway! Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Gary

That's correct, no direct sales to the owners anymore. But they will give you the part number and if you need a dealer name to order through, they will help you with that also. I am thinking the dealer can order and drop ship to you.

On those tail lights, I think there is a number stamped on them that you can google and find sources also. But like Dave stated, probably the best price on this particular item is from an Entegra dealer.

Mine were done in Middlebury at my PDI.

If I were in your situation, I would call the parts department at MHSRV and order through them. Fast service, good price, correct part.

They were a problem. Had them replaced on three of our earlier Entegras and they are Corvette lights but I don't remember what years.

I paid about $350, but they were LED's. I believe the Ecklers version are incandescent replacements, more like an OEM Corvette.

John:

Ecklers has both types. On the older models like my 88 Vette, they are incandescent. But beginning in 1997 and through maybe 2008 ????, they were LED lights. They have them both ways, and some advocate for upgrading the incandescents up to LEDs. However, if they can be had for anywhere near Dave's costs, I will be buying from Entegra.

Entegra Part Number is 0194446.

I called MHSRV and Motorhomes 2 Go. Both are charging around $25 per light.

For what it's worth, I have gone through 4 out of my 6 taillights in 2.5 years. They are consumables now.

I ordered two. One, for my light that has MAYBE 20% of the LEDs left working and one for the next one that goes.

Hope this helps.

Entegra replaced 2 of ours at the Buckhorn rally. P/N 0194446, $24.55 each.
