Thumbs up Life line Battery date code understanding

If your date code on your lifeline battery is example (IT). The(I) represents the the ninth letter of the alphabet which is also the ninth month of the year.
The (T) represents the 20th letter of the alphabet which is the 20th year thus date code (IT) is September 2020.

Why do companies have to use secret code? Why not just put the date of manufacture? After all we are the end user and purchasers. Crazy

I understand, I just installed eight Lifeline GPL-4CTs and had to contact the vendor to figure out the date code information on what appears to be a great product.
