I was wonder where I could find the wire that I would use to unlock the magnet.
I suppose I could use a hot wire & put a switch in for power.

I don’t believe they used an electromagnet in 2015 to hold the 3 drawer slide in place. Your idea to add a power line and a switch would certainly work.

Great idea. Also like the fact that you are using the parking brake circuit to activate. Removes the temptation of in flight coffee etc. Safety first.

As usual there's been many good mods made to improve our motorhomes.
I went down the "low tech" road for our trash drawer lock by dropping a 3 inch long dowel pin down the back side of the closed trash drawer.
The hardest part of this mod is to remember to remove the pin when you need to get to the trash can!

You're welcome, Larry.
However, it seems that this may have wandered a little
I apologize for my part of that.
Take care,
Stu

Locking Trash Drawer
Great idea, thanks. Also, do you have the model number of the new slides you installed?

Cabinetparts.com is the best place I’ve found to order these price wise.

This is a great idea and thanks for sharing. After thinking about it I may take it a step further and connect the electromagnet to a DC converter and then plug it into the AC outlet behind the dishwasher through an amazon plug. I have this similar setup controlling my dishwasher to cut the power off and keep it locked during travel. I can use Alexa in the Bose 700 speaker to control the amazon plug (as I do with the dishwasher plug) and power it on/off when ever I want. Should work good but I'll report back with results.
Michael

So taking your thinking a step farther or perhaps in a different direction. I should be able to take the stupid box located above the passenger seat to kill the tv and wire it from the electromagnet I just installed to the dishwasher to kill it while traveling! I think that’s a great idea but today I was bored so I started drinking early!
