When I lost pedestal power, The inverter went off. As a result I lost power inside the coach and into the refrigerator. When the power came back on shouldn’t the inverter have come back on?

When the shore power was interrupted , the inverter may have been overloaded and blown it's 12 volt power supply fuse or tripped the breakers on the side of the inverter .

Do you have info on the inverter ? Brand and model ?
Do you have a voltmeter?

Inverter 12 volt supply fuse will be within 3' of the coach batteries and probably look like the photo below.

Good advice posted above. The "inverter" should have "come back on" if there was no malfunction. If the shore power was lost due to overload, circuit breakers may have tripped and need resetting.

What is an "inverter"?

Many RV inverter/charger/converters with transfer switches are called "inverters". The full name is too long for convenient discussion.

These devices have two inputs and two outputs.

The first input is 120 volt shore power or 120/240 volt. In this case the transfer switch in the "inverter" connects the 120 volt input to the 120 volt output. It turns the inverter circuit "off" and turns the battery charger "on".

Restoring shore power should cause the output to reconnect to it.

The second input is 12 volts battery power. When the "inverter" detects loss of shore power, it connects to the batteries for power. The transfer switch disconnects shore power and connects to the inverter. It inverts the 12 volt input and outputs 120 volts. The battery charger is turned "off".

Loss of shore power should have turned the inverter "on" and provided 120 volt power to the output. If the battery bank was dead or disconnected this would not happen.

There may be a disconnect switch near the battery bank. There is usually a large fuse or circuit breaker in the positive connection cable near the battery. In any case 120 volt output power should have been restored when shore power was restored.

There are push button breakers for the 110 volt output on the inverter. They will be on the side of it. Check to see if one of those didn't trip. If you have no shore power and the inverter is turn on, it should show inverter. That indicated the fuse is good. Also, if you have shore power and the inverter shows charging, then your fuse is good.

Depending on the year of your coach......The new Vega Touches have a mind of their own. I store on 20 amp in Florida's lightning capital of the world. We have constant power interruption. When the power comes backs on, the inverters and chargers, can be off or on, Vega Touch's choice. I rely on the Nebula app to check my coaches power and settings every morning. I have the battery chargers sometimes go off when power comes back on. It's a computer and can do anything on a reboot.
Many of us are fight battery charger settings. Each time there is a power change the charger settings are reverting a setting lower than the batteries require. FireFly doesn't know why. Another Vega Touch "has a mind of it's own."

This just happened to us the other day. Juice went out for miles, probably lightning strike somewhere. The push-button breaker on the inverter tripped for some reason, re-set and it has been fine. Don't know what happened EMS didn't show any surge or overvolt codes when power came back. We've lost power plenty of times before, but this was the first time inverter breaker tripped.
