Love's Fuel MPG

Has anyone computed a MPG and CPM with Love's bio-diesel? I have been reading the posts about the savings with the EFS card. Wondering if anyone has done a cost comparison between bio-diesel and diesel? The few times I have used bio-diesel, the MPG dropped.

Thanks
Paul

Bio fuel has lower BTU content so yes less power and MPG

Costs......if cheap then it could be an advantage

Personally.
I try to NOT run Bio over 5%

I'M curious where you would buy NON -Biodiesel since its a federal requirement?

"Renewable Fuel Standard
RFS Volumes by Year

The Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) is a federal program that requires transportation fuel sold in the United States to contain a minimum volume of renewable fuels.
The RFS originated with the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and was expanded and extended by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). The RFS requires renewable fuel to be blended into transportation fuel in increasing amounts each year, escalating to 36 billion gallons by 2022. Each renewable fuel category in the RFS program must emit lower levels of greenhouse gases (GHGs) relative to the petroleum fuel it replaces."

Not to disparage your inquiry... but I think biodiesel got a huge (over 100 replies) thread about a month or so ago. Yes, there is a difference in fuel BTU density. What you don't know is that stations can sell low-bio content without relabeling pumps, and note the conditional wording of those labels "may contain up to xx% bio...." The vast majority of the big fuel sellers have some amount of bio (I think 5% or less doesn't require pump labeling but I could be recalling that wrong). One (I think) iRV2 user reported lower fuel economy with higher bio content ratios.

Cummins has specific recommendations regarding use of biofuels according to engine model and year.

Those are the pertinent things I can immediately recall from that thread.

Good luck and safe travels.

YEP^^^
"Pumps dispensing biodiesel blends of 5% (B5) or less must include a label stating that the fuel "may contain up to five percent biodiesel" and those distributing blends greater than 5% must be labeled with the capital letter B, followed by the numerical value volume of biodiesel and the words "biodiesel" or "biodiesel blend."

Simple.....just look at the info on pump

We fuel at Loves more often than other truck stops. I get at 0.2 miles per gallon less than we got a few years ago in our classic. I'm assuming it's the fuel and everything else has not changed ie service periods, filters, driving habits.
