Lubrication for Steps

Recently replaced my Kwikee step controller after I could not get the step light to go off. The controller was putting out constant voltage, reason my step light was always burned out. Included in the box was an owners manual. It included a Lubrication page which someone may find helpful.

Grease Gun in a Can, I have been using this for years on a previous motorhome and this one. The stuff works great. You used to be able to get it at Camping World but I do not think they still carry it.

What's the procedure for the Cornerstone's drawer steps? Besides the rails.

Entegra recommends that you lubriicate the step with non greasy or oily lubricants, since grease will attract dirt. Silicone spray is good.

The attachment said not to use silicone.

I am in trouble already. I have used silicone on my bi annual silicone spray walk around on the steps twice. I used it for 11 years on the previous MH and the steps were still working great. I think keeping the swivel points cleaned and lubed is the important thing. JMO

Silicone is a great lubricant for things such as slide seals and rubber parts but not as effective on metal parts. Although, some sort of lube is better than nothing.
In my previous post, I provide a link for Boshield T9. You will find this is the best for your steps, hinges, locks etc.
It does not attract dirt and does not wash off with water like most others.

I found a good dry film lube at my local John Deere dealer. It is a graphite colloid that seems to provide a good protective "dry film" that provides more lubricating than just silicone. I am using it on all the pins and wear points on the towbar.

I use a dry Teflon spray, no oily residue.

Most Car and Motorcycle manufacturers suggest the use of Lithium or graphite spray and sell some sort of the product with their "name of your car/bike" labeled on the can. It's a dry lubricant you use in exposed moving parts like locks and hinges (steps). Sells most everywhere. Auto parts store, home-improvement stores and even Wal-Mart. <$12/can. A little goes a long way.
