Macerator Discharge Modification
I am at NIRVC having some work done, one of the task is a modification to the macerator discharge system. I have attached a schematic of the work being done, I have seen this on several coaches and the owners had only good comments.
This modification eliminates the forced reverse gravity flow out of the macerator to the discharge hose, causing undrained liquid to remain in the system until the next pump out. The modification ONLY is from the discharge end of the macerator.
Has anyone done this or something similar and what were you results?

I have a 2017 Cornerstone that had the outlet of the macerator thru the small door. I rerouted the outlet to come out below the wet bay door, I than installed a manual valve at the end of the outlet. When using the macerator I first hook up a hose open the valve and turn on macerator, no leaking.

I saw here awhile back ago where someone took it upon their self and performed a very like mod. Are you saying that the dealers (and maybe Entegra) is now offering this as a mod? If so, I would love to have it!
EDIT: I found it, it was Rollin101 where I first saw this mod... I want to give credit where credit is due: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/mace...od-432006.html

I like it. This may be a mod I’ll do this winter.

Its never been a problem for me on this 19 Cornerstone. Now, the hose is easily removable, but that removable process essentially makes this modification unnecessary on this vintage or later vintage coach (if I understand your problem correctly). So far, I am a big fan of the SaniCon.

It's not about the hose or the connection, but the uphill tube between the macerator and hose bay. Because of that uphill tube, your macerator will never really be empty, because once the macerator is turned off, any all all fluids that have not made it to the top of the tube at the hose bay, will drain back down into the macerator. Some may not mind this, but I like the idea of knowing that everything has been emptied, especially when putting the coach to bed for freezing weather.

Dewey.... thanks for the clarification.
I have never cared about that problem, but I live in the south and travel North only in the fall and spring so never have to worry about that specific problem. I couldn't care less if every drop of the gray water is out of the system (I always flush with gray after black).

Steve, I did that mod last year for the same reason. It was not that difficult to do. One other thing I did was put a clear piece of tube on the hose head with a banjo connector so I could disconnect the head to get it screwed on to the sewer drain. See picture below.

This is what I have done also. Quick clean and easy.

Steve, I did this mod within a month of taking home our new coach.
This aspect of Entegra construction technique still baffles me.
Water. Flows. Downhill.
I’ve done the above and simply go right to a garden hose and then to a sewer adaptor I cobbled together from another waste system.
We have never used a 3” slinky on this coach. We used the 1 1/2” Sanicon hose less than 10 times before it failed and I changed the discharge plumbing.
I hope the bill for this mod isn’t much.
It is a hard to reach spot with a drill driver and hole saw. Then it’s about 20 minutes cutting and glueing up Sch40 PVC. Including a “PatYourselfOnTheBackBeer.” And you have less than an hour invested.
Getting the old one out is a P.A.I.N. and I’d suggest simply hacking the ABS plastic with a Dremel or hack saw. Getting to the hose clamp affixing the 1 1/2” Sanicom hose is quite an effort. Cut the ABS as close to where it goes from the wet bay into the small storage bin, in order to ease removal through the bin.
If you’re concerned about the speed, I timed the original setup and using a garden hose slows the draining just a little bit. In your case, it should be Apple to apples.
Let your tech get rolling and enjoy trouble free use for years to come. One side benefit is that our tanks never smell after I’ve cleaned and rinsed. I believe this is because we can evacuate all waste material, instead of leaving a small portion forever trapped in the macerator.
Best Regards,
-Matt

Rollin 101 did this mod. I was able to see it up close when we met in Florida last spring. It's a great mod. I will tackle it this off season

Yep, and that’s all I’ve used this Summer. Someone will get a nice mod when they buy this Cornerstone and I’ll have to do it again on the 2020.

Do you have a parts list handy? I'd like to order this stuff.

That reverse gravity flow is such a design flaw! I can't believe they are still building it that way! I rerouted it the way you have proposed and am happy with the results, and now have extra hose storage!
