Macerator Door, how to keep close

When I use my macerator hose (typically when I will only be at a place for a week or less) I just run it out the door rather than through the hole that brings it out the wheel well (that is to much work). I have used a rubber band with a bent paper clip to hold the door semi closed so that it doesn't bang in the wind or get in the way of the wet bay door when I am closing that. I recently upgraded to this "micro bungee" cord from Amazon

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Note that you also need to buy the end pieces.

I have screwed in a very small bracket on the inside of the compartment to anchor one end of the bungee cord and I clip the other end on the latch (I have upgraded to the metal one)

Holds better and should last longer than the rubber band setup

I have thought about doing that as well. However, my plan is to mod the macerator outlet under the coach such as Rollin 101 did. That will eliminate the air lock and the gray water can drain without using the macerator

Thanks for bringing up a nice way to deal with this problem. I have always simply let the door "flap" but I have never really liked that solution..... have to be too careful any time opening or closing the wet bay door, so I appreciate your idea of a solution.

On this trip, I just decided to use a short length of nylon line that I have in the basement and I simply loosely tie that line around the door and around th sanicon hose. The line ties them together loosely but just enough to keep the door from flapping or getting whacked by the wet bay door in closing.... not as elegant as your solution, but it has worked well so far.

And I agree, routing the sanicon line out through the side or down under or the stinky slinky connection is just too much crawling or screwing around with things.... just pull the sanicon hose out through its door fully and then tie the door off.... If this doesn't work well, I will try your solution.

I posted earlier that Summit products , who supply stainless products to entegra, will have a stainless macerator door replacement product at homecoming.

I will confidently predict brisk sales for that particular product...

Good tip & even better news about the Summit solution. That flimsy door set-up has worried me ever since we took delivery in December. Just looks like it is ready to break or easily crack. Will be interested in seeing the Summit product.

The flimsy door would be semi-tolerable if it didn't have three colors of paint on it.

So the door gets dinged up or broken and needs to be replaced.

Cost of a new door? Chump change.

Cost of painting the new door to match the motorhome? Don't wanna know.

I cant wait for the stainless model to be available. I broke the door within the first few months when closing the wet bay door. I just put the black door on unpainted as I wasn't going to pay to have it painted with the chance of it breaking again either from my own abuse or regular wear and tear. My coach had 3 colors on it also but fortunately black is the main color.

If memory serves from another post around $500!

To the OP: Great solution
