Macerator hose compartment

I hate putting up my Macerator hose in the tiny compartment on the Cornerstone. Has Entegra changed the storage compartment since the 2020 models?

I looked at a 2023 Cornerstone a few months ago, and has the same compartment as our 2019 Insignia, so doesn't appear they have made it any bigger.

Yep, same compartment.
Kind of a pain if you have the hose all they way out. Still easier than the stinky slinky in my view. We move often so I use the macerator. I leave it the hose until the night before we move. Some coach owners put that hose away after each use.

Gloves help. The edges on my macerator hose storage compartment are ruff / sharp.
They can be ruff on the forearms if you reach all the way into that compartment.

I made the hose end detachable with a cam lock. Much easier to put the hose away.

My end is also detachable, but my hose connects underneath with camloc also. I unhook the hose fasten the two ends together with the camloc and put it in the small compartment. No leak, no stink and fairly easy to store.

Yours is a great modification. One of the easier ways to to disconnect and store the hose.

Our Entegras have a longer than standard hose. I believe mine was close to 30'. If you ever buy an exact replacement, you are looking for the Entegra hose which is longer, I believe the standard Sanicon hose is 20' or thereabouts.

I think our problems getting it all back in the compartment is due in part to a fairly longer than typical sanicon hose.

I need to replace a hose that has sprung a leak and I am considering buying two 20 footers and adding camlocks to the middle ends. One 20 footer will go in the storage box and one in the basement if ever needed.

The shorter hose is claimed to be 21 feet (stretched out). It is what my coach came with and is sufficient in my experience for 95% of campground setups. I have camlocks installed and keep a second 21 footer for those occasional situations where more is needed. I have no trouble at all getting even the two 21 footers plus camlocks and the sewer fitting into the storage compartment, although I normally only keep the one 21 footer connected.

Gary when my 17 coach hose sprung a leak that is what I did. Far cheaper approach. The cost difference in the 20 and 30 ft hoses was an eye opener. I had 40 ft total if needed. I never used the extra 20 ft before selling the coach. Putting just the 20 ft hose away is a little less of a job as well. I have been in a couple places with the 22 coach where just 20ft would have been a problem. Rare but if your are going with 20 ft I agree with the extension option.

Our house started separating this first year, so we had a 20 ft without that material sleeve installed. It’s worked great and easy to stow.

I also installed the camloc which makes it so the moving the hose to another compartment possible.

I thought that your end piece modification seemed a bit complicated and clunky, but now that I have two 21' sections of hose, I see the brilliance of your design. I am going to try to find the clear reinforced hose at Lowes or Home Depot and make the screw in end fitting to camlock section so that I can just add a male and female camlock fitting to the second 21' hose so that I can either use the screw-on 90 degree end fitting or another 21' section of hose.

Hope this idea works.... will report back. A 21' single section of hose seems like it should fit in the sewer box easily. We shall see.

And I don't think the nylon outer sleeve did a darn thing to protect my hose from leaks, so I am going to try this arrangement without the nylon sleeve. I don't think that the sleeve protected anything. Maybe makes the hose look nicer, but.......

You think you hate that little compartment, wait till you split that hose. It costs hundreds of dollars if you can even get it. Furthermore if you don't extend it out all the way when using it you will split it and it all goes downhill from there .

Dan Tilka, The 21' hose costs $80 on Amazon. This is the 1.5" version for the OEM Sanicon and shows 1 day delivery to my address.

The 21' length is plenty for 98% of campgrounds, for the other 2% many of us carry a second 21' and have installed camlocks to make it a cinch to extend and put away. It also acts as a backup that can be instantly deployed.

You do not need to extend the hose to use it. It will expand on its own once the pump starts. IMO, it is the expansion/contraction that eventually will cause the membrane between the coils to fail. Also I think if it is left out in the sun that will significantly decrease its life expectancy.

Gary, I too have decided to give up on the "protective sleeve". I've been going 2 years that way now with no issues. The cover will prevent sand and small rocks from getting caught between the coils when it retracts, so you do need to be a little more careful in those kind of environments.

I also have two 21' hoses with camlocks, including a camlock where it connects inside the compartment. I rarely need the second 21', but when I do, I can get all 42', plus all camlocks into the compartment with no issues (no protective sleeve), otherwise I store the second 21' elsewhere.

You can buy a 2' length of the 1.5" clear plain or reinforced hose at Home Depot for about $10-$12, I used much less than that so have spares. I use a couple of zip ties around each fitting as clamps, works fine and won't snag as easily as a worm gear clamp.
