Our 44A ( built Sept ) has a partially improved macerator plumbing ( Entegra sent me a kit but haven't roundtuit ) but I have never sttempted to use it. I have only used the slinky connection but I am able to bend down and reach under to connect. I also like the KISS method !!

Enjoy your 44A WE ARE 😄

Slinky Tube

The sewer tube supplied with a new Entegra is about 4 foot long, which is about as useful as a chocolate teapot! So after you've gone a purchased a 20' tube you will discover that the slinky tube housing (that the dealers make such a bit deal about being a great idea)will only accept a 4' slinky tube.

Be sure and check where the hose is connected at the top of the storage area. Our hose is torn and leaking at the top due to the high pressure. I believe they will need to attach one or two 45 degree pipes to make it a straight shot. We are waiting on parts for our repair and will have them check the lower connection the the macerator. Hopefully this will fix the problem. No doubt if a rep lived in the coach for a month or some of these problems would have been discovered earlier. It is a minor issue and we are using the slinkynin the meantime.

That's why I put the 90 degree elbow with the cam lock on the right hand side. Mine is now a straight shot out of the storage bay.

Hayman,
That was a difficult assignment you gave me. Very little room to maneuver even a small phone. Sorry the pictures aren't better. The first picture is where the nipple exits the Mascerator motor and travels to the right. Picture 2 shows the point where the fix passes through the bay wall into the hose bay. Picture 3 shows where I placed the elbow and mounted the cam lock that I use to connect the hose. Click image for larger version

My RBQ also built in sept has a solid pipe from the macerator thru the wall and then a solid 45 with the hose connected to that. I received the kit from Entegra but what I have seem better than what they sent minus the blade valve.

Mwillis, THANK YOU pics are always good. I think you should send these off to Entegra as it looks like a great idea ! I'm actually thinking of plumbing mine with a quick connect out the bottom and store the hose in the compartment. Your parts give me an idea what to get. Again Thanks very much.

I really like your fix.
Do you get a lot of movement in the SS flex or the pipe going into the hose storage compartment?

I also used Mallory's fix instead of Entegra's and the stainless flex (I used 24") doesn't move at all when downloading. It wasn't easy to tighten the connections because of tight space but was able to get it done (would have been easier with long skinny arms) and I also used quick connects in case I need to attach an extension hose.

I don't get any movement at all when the pump is turned on. The flexible stainless hose, while able to flex in many configurations, is pretty rigid.

Those of you with the early 2016 models that have the Sani-Con Mascerator already know there is an identified problem with the method of plumbing regarding the flexible 1 1/2" hose. When emptying the waste tanks the length of hose in the wet bay expands and begins thrashing around as soon as the Mascerator pump is turned on. This can result in damage (cutting) to the hose which in turn sprays a poopoo/peepee cocktail inside your wet bay. I know this first hand.

After reporting this to Entegra I was informed they were aware of the problem and were working on a fix. In the mean time they asked me to use the slinky until they figured it out. After using the slinky one time I knew that wasn't going to work for me since each time you use it you have to lay on your back and crawl partially under the motor home to attach it.

A couple of weeks ago I received my repair kit from Entegra with instructions to take it to a repair facility. I live in the middle of the desert right next to nowhere and don't have a facility nearby, so decided to tackle it myself.

Took the parts out to the motorhome to begin and realized right away this was going to be a very difficult fix for my level of skills. There is very little room in the wet bay and there were several parts that needed to be installed including a blade valve that would allow us to isolate the hose from the the pump in case we ever had another hose failure. That valve is a good idea but requires the addition of two pieces of rubber hose and 4 hose clamps. I tried to dry fit the parts and discovered that the motor discharge port and the hole that goes into the hose storage bay are offset so it would require forcing the setup to "bend" to fit placing constant stress on some of the parts.

I wasn't real comfortable with this setup so began designing a different plan. I went to my local irrigation/plumbing supply store and began assembling what I needed. The parts list is:
Everything is inch and a half
1-4" nipple
1-8" nipple
1-flexible stainless water connector (Falcon Stainless #swc-112)
1-threaded/threaded elbow

Total cost was less than $40

If you look at the photos, you can see how they go together.

Remove the old hose by unscrewing it from the motor. Pass it through the port into the hose storage bay. Install the 4" nipple with Teflon tape into the motor discharge port and tighten. Add the 8" nipple to one end of the flexible pipe. No tape is necessary as there are rubber gaskets in each end, just don't over tighten. Insert the flexible pipe/nipple combo into the wet bay sticking the 8" nipple end through the port into the hose bay. Then screw the flexible hose end onto the nipple you installed in the motor port.

The 8" nipple should now protrude into the hose bay about 2-3". Teflon tape the nipple and screw on the elbow. You can now screw the hose into the elbow and your repair is finished. This is not a difficult fix and can be accomplished in an hour or two.

I went a step further and added cam lock fittings for easy hose replacement. I even added a cam lock fitting to the grey plastic head end to make it easier to add an extra length of hose for those rv campgrounds that place the sewer drain more than 20' from the motorhome. I made some adapters to fit both a 3" or 4" threaded drain (see photo). By putting the cam lock on the grey head I can also pass the hose through the large hole in the hose bay then down to the drain in case I want to leave the hose out for a couple of days but can still lock the hose bay door so it won't flap in the wind.

I'm not saying this is a better fix than what Entegra recommends and I understand they won't warranty this fix but I personally have more faith in my design. I just read that G&J have already had a failure of the repair.

Sorry the post is so long but hope it helps someone,

Mallory Willis

I really liked the Cam Lock fittings you used so I used them also. I did however make one change. Instead of using the large hole in the hose bay, I ran the ABS pipe through the wall of the hose bay into the wheel well. That way the waste doesn't have to pump uphill and allows the hose to drain completely.
