Macerator Question

I think I will soon be staying at a location without a sewer hookup, will have to use a honey pot truck. Does anyone know if the macerator hose will connect to the hose from the honey pot truck? Or will I need to hook up my old style sewer hose? 2019 Aspire. Just not sure if the macerator end cap will connect to the honey pot truck. Thoughts?

When I was in that situation the truck was close enough that I just hooked up my hose and pumped direct into the truck. Be sure to finish off with gray water.

That's the business they are in. Leave it to the professionals.....

Just don't wait until the last minute for the first encounter in case they tell you to change your setup.

Good Luck

Pumping direct makes sense to me and that would be my first preference.

However, unless this is in Florida or near where everyone has a honey wagon pump waste, I would suggest them doing it from the old stinky slinky type fitting.... I have never seen anyone make a connection to the sanicon system.

Agree about not waiting until the last minute, that is the reason for asking now. Thanks!

Let me expand a bit.

The first (and only time I had this done), the honey wagon was set up specifically for motorhome black tank dumping. The standard rig is a huge tank on a truck with a vacuum pump and hose. Now, when it was done by an RV type honey wagon, their big vacuum pipe came back almost to the coach and then there was a "T" in the hose, with the bottom of the "T" open to air and stood straight up.... the top of the "T" connected to the standard stinky-slinky type fitting. What this meant was that the vacuum pump was sucking outside air most of the time (and not pulling on your coach valve seals) until you pulled the gray or black tank handle at which time the gray and black tank contents flowed down into the "T" and right up into the tank. However, the "T" let outside air continue to come into the system. This set up meant that there was not undue amount of vacuum placed against the valve seals. I would guess that at something like a NASCAR event, the honey wagons are set up so as to not damage coaches.

I have had a number of coaches call honey wagons out at Quartzsite. However, most of those honey-wagon guys are in the business of draining underground sewage tanks, and they made a straight connection to coaches dump valve (and no open air connection to reduce suction) and several owners felt that the vacuum was too much for their valves and they had valve problems after having their tanks emptied.

I'd have a talk with the company or the driver before I let them connect to your system as I think it could produce damage if not set up correctly.

Gary

Gary - thanks for the comments, you raise some good points to keep in mind. Wouldn’t want anything to get damaged.
