Macerator Removal tips needed

I've gone down a rabbit hole this morning and I'm trying to remove macerator so I can see if the impeller is jammed. For those of you that have removed it before. Do you have any tips on how you got it out?

Sorry. I have had it worked on but did not do the work myself. Looked at what the guys were doing every once in a while but did not see the disassembly or re-assembly part. There is a glass part where you could theoretically see into the chamber and see the impeller, but it is on the bottom and there is no way to see into it without removal.

Now, I can tell you that my motor was never jammed.... it just burned out for no apparent reason.

There have been several pretty informative threads published up here in the past year. Try this: go into the search box at the top of this forum and search only iRV2, not the whole web. Enter this .... ENTEGRA: macerator motor replacement and enter and see what you get. If that doesn't work, try the same but add the words Gary Jones to the search string. If that doesn't work, free associate words that seem relevant. I guarantee that it will give you a ton of information.

Gary

It was not easy nor was it fun, but it’s possible.

Thank you for your responses. I eventually got it out and I'm assuming the motor is going bad as there wasn't any thing obstructing the impeller So I put it all back together and will need to order a new one. When I go back in to do the replacement I am definitely going to do some water supply changes. It would have been a lot easier if the water lines weren't in the middle of all the waste lines.

If you’re interested in repairing the macerator pump/motor, the below linked post is how I repaired the burnt motor.

As far as removal, the eaisest way is to cut the 3 inch black pipe in front of pump unit, remove pump housing and make repairs as needed, then use a fernco coupling to reassemble.
