Yes and yes. Gordon uses a very fine weave on his screens - it's actually his patent - and it cuts the heat even better than our Magna shades did. And the mirror covers are really slick - they are solid leather like material and zip over the mirrors like a glove. Keeps our mirrors much cleaner than the Magna covers.

I took the plunge yesterday and ordered a full set from Magne. My previous RV had shades with snaps and I grew tired of pulling out a ladder everytime those shades had to go on or come off. Standing on terra firma vs a circus act on a ladder is my preference.

Personally like Gordon’s snap on—very secure and is similar process when riveting to aircraft structures. 4 years and no problems to date—friends have a 13 Anthem and had no problems either. Plus Gordon is just so personable [emoji23][emoji41][emoji576][emoji601]

You can do what you want of course, but I think you are making a mistake. I have had both (my "snap shades" were made by Shade Pro). It was a complete pain in the butt to have to haul out a ladder to install each shade and then haul out the ladder again to take them down.

Linda has had a much bigger problem with shades coming off for whatever reason than anyone else I have heard about... In the 3 years we had the MagneShades on the Anthem, I had the front shade come off once, and that was in a REALLY BIG (scary actually) blow. The magnets need to be positioned so the shade is tight and flat against the windows... placement of the magnets needs to be so they stretch the material flat. So, maybe there were differences in installation or maybe differences in magnets, but my opinion is that the fourth time you have to struggle with the ladder to get your shades mounted or removed, you will be wishing you had gone the way. Just my opinion, but

Thanks for the comments. Giving me some things to consider for sure. I’m pumping the brakes for a second before I have Gordon install.

Something similar to consider is would you pull out a ladder to put the shades out for just 1 night while travelling (usually I would think not but I have no problem putting up the Magneshade while travelling)

I agree that we didn’t need a ladder to put up our Magna shades - but Rick would never put the shades on a dirty windshield - so he usually had a ladder out anyway. We are enjoying Gordon’s work. That’s why they made different types.

Agree about not putting the Magneshade out on a dirty window and I use a squeegee with an extendable pole for that.

It’s great having choices, sometimes hard to make a decision based on others comments, but remember they are just opinions. If you’re worried about having snap rivets installed then I would recommend going the magnet route. Either way some effort is required and I don’t put on our shades for an overnight stop. We usually roll in between 3-5PM and I get to cleaning the windshield if necessary. I don’t snap our shades on a dirty window as I’m sure those with magnets don’t either. I’m very pleased with the snaps, it keeps the shade snug covering all of the window, and honestly it’s not that difficult, and pulling out a 4”X4” collapsible ladder doesn’t take much effort.

Any of the shade are good, it's the ones that don't have them that really suffer.
I have been using the suction cup mount type that you never hear of. They have worked great for me for 14 years. Easy on, easy off and yes the D/S window did blow off in a heavy wind about 12 years ago.

The nice part is the shades will fit the new coach without having to install anything. I can start using them on the day of delivery. Just one type with another advantage.

I agree with cleaning the windshield before putting up the shade but I just remove the bugs using a Wexford kitchen cloth on the end of a telescopic pole. No ladder, and once the shade's up I can't tell the windshield isn't streak-free. Cleaning the windshield to "driving" quality is a waste of time since the windshield just gets dirty again under the shade.

The shades also need to be washed regularly or you'll be putting a dirty shade on a clean window.

Our Magneshade came via UPS today, called a friend, reviewed the installation video, and got er done!
It took 1/2 hour to install this, I am impressed. One thing when you work with the magnets pay close attention to handling them! Stan my helper swung the metal spatula over the pie plate (have to watch the install video to understand this), and the spatula "snagged three of the magnets! Holy crap are they hard to separate!

Magna shade

We finally got around to installing our windshield shade on our 9-month old coach. It was installed on 2 windshields on our Anthem. Lots of excuses why it took so long to get around to it. Planned to install side window shades also but the coach is under a metal roof with a sidewall so no air movement. We turned on the generator and AC so DW was fine inside at mid-80s but it was 108 outside the coach! When I go back to pull the shade off after the required 72 hour adhesive cure time I will install the side shades but I will do it in the morning!
