Magnum ME-BMK for an Anthem
Has anyone installed a Magnum battery monitor for an Anthem (with two inverters)? Would two battery monitor kits be required or would one work? According to Entegra's battery wiring diagram for the Anthem one inverter is attached to the top battery tray and one is attached to the lower tray with the negative of each tray of batteries going to a common grounding stud along with the negative for both inverters.

I have it on my Anthem. Just one is needed as it ties into the Magnum network and thereby talks to both inverters. It works well as far as keeping track of battery charge and discharge. Unfortunately it does not talk to the AGS as Entegra chose to use an Onan AGS and not the Magnum's AGS feature.

If the positive battery terminals are all connected together at some point, and remain connected, then yes you can use one ME-BMK.
If your batteries are in seperated banks, even though they share a common ground, you will need two BMK's.

Marc,
Excellent news. Who did your install or do you have a wiring diagram of your installation. I figured it will get connected to the larger 2800 W inverter and take the readings off that remote panel.

Larry,
Thanks. It is definitely one battery bank so one should work.

Marc,
Another question. Where is your shunt placed, is it in the battery compartment area or was it moved inside a dry dust free area?

My installation was done by Inverter Service Center in Whitehouse, TN. They are experts and know exactly what they are doing. Reasonable, too.
They placed a terminal block near the rear of the battery compartment, up high, and attached the shunt there.

The shunt is attached between all the negative conductors and the batteries. There should be nothing connected to the battery negatives except the cable from the shunt and perhaps the temp sensor. You may need to make or buy a jumper, don't skimp on that, I'd go with 4/0 cable. I did my aspire and mounted the shunt on the back wall of the battery bay. In that case I only needed to make a jumper for the buss to chassis ground. More info in this photo essay:

On the Anthem, I'm guessing, but you are going to have 2 battery negatives and two inverter negatives. That's a lot of lugs for a single binding post and the shunt stud may not be tall enough to take them all. You may want to consider something like this for a neat install: http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Sea-Syste...ue+sea+bus+bar

Rob,
Great photo essay, thanks very much. With regards to your next post I was thinking the same thing, that the shunt would not take all the cables. The idea of a 4 post bus bar is the perfect solution.
