Magnum setting for new batteries

How do I find the settings I need to adjust for the new batteries. I went with Interstate GC2-ECL-UTL.

Michael

Are those AGMs or Flooded batteries.?

if they are AGMs, then they are usually charged best as AGM2. If they are flooded, then usually flooded or AGM1.

757Pilot will be on here soon and give you the “word”.

I looked them up and there is no mention of them being AGM batteries so they appear to be just 6 volt flooded golf cart batteries, so you are going to need to watch their water levels in the cells and make sure that they have and maintain proper distilled water levels periodically as you can boil out the water while charging.

I just replaced 8 interstate GC AGM batteries, for a friend, on a 2016 Anthem. Right now they are set on AGM 2, but if Don has a better setting for custom I may reset them.

If you installed AGMs, then I believe you have it right at AGM2. However, the OP seems to have selected flooded replacements and at least on all the classics and many of the new coaches, those were supposed to be charged on AGM1 or flooded. Don will arrive shortly and straighten us out. Maybe some of the newer coaches were programmed differently on the VegaTouch panel interface with Magnum.

Google the batteries, the OP has 225 amp hour, flooded batteries in a Classic.

Yes they are 225AH flooded batteries and I have a watering system for them to keep them full of distilled water. Pulled them off the old batteries, cleaned them up a little and soaked them in distilled water over night before putting them in the new batteries.

Michael, it appears you have replaced like for like. I don’t know what the AmpHour rating of your previous batteries was, but assuming it was similar to your new ones and your inverter/charger was properly configured for the original batteries, you should be fine with the current settings.

Assuming you have four batteries, the rated capacity of your new bank is 450 AmpHours at 12 volts. If you have eight batteries, it would be 900 AmpHours at 12 volts. Check the current capacity setting on your Magnum remote panel and ensure Battery Type is set to Flooded, and you’ll be good to go.

If your remote panel asks for absorption charge time rather than battery bank AmpHours, you’ll want 90 minutes if you have four batteries or 150 minutes if you have eight.

Michael,

I will send you the settings for your new batteries. I assume you have four of the Interstates like you originally had?

Michael,

A few more questions. What model of Magnum inverter do you have, is it a MS2012 or a MS2812? Under the setup button on the Magnum remote panel how many menus do you have? Push setup and rotate the round knob to see how high they go. It should be either 1-7 or 1-10.

J.H.

Will send you settings for the Interstate AGM batteries. There is more to it than just selecting AGM1, AGM2, or Flooded.

Don, you know I am going to be asking for the 19 settings when I get it. As bad as we found that my 14 settings were off, I'm not trusting the "guy on the line" again. Thanks to your informative posts, I have a better understanding of the settings now

Chuck,

Not a problem. Let me know the make and model of the batteries and will send the settings along.

That will be the easy part....figuring out the new Vega Touch will be the hard part. You know I appreciate the help.
