Sure to do that I operate the lift for a moment to get the lid up a little and then turn it off. Or you can operate it with the hand crank if it is not too high of a ceiling to reach it.

On my Maxxair 8500, when the fan is off, you can open the lid without turning the fan on. With the fan on and the lid open, the lid closes when the fan is turned off.

There should be a button for opening and closing only, on the remote.
Later...

If your remote looks like Ray’s, it’s the Vent OPN/CLS button.

Sorry, that is not possible. You can open and close the lid by itself and then turn the fan on but as soon as you turn the fan off the lid will close.

Don, you are right, dumb me, I misinterpreted the question.
Sometimes we do leave the vent open with no fan for fresh air movement but at the risk of bringing more dust.

If you hit the vent open/close button right after the fan on/off then the cover will stay open.
Later...

I ran both our Maxairs on 10% minimum for eight years non-stop. The point was to remove the moisture from the interior. People and animals breath and create humidity. In a cooler climate that moisture can condense on the inside of the walls and possibly cause a mold/mildew situation. This is one of the reasons that in the manual there is a disclaimer that these units are not designed as a permanent dwelling. I have often seen people that do not understand this with fogged up windows. I always tried to let them know.

Robert, thanks for that tip about running them @ 10%.
There are certain times of the year we will get condensation on the front window. Always have a window cracked but that makes more sense to power the fans on when we go to bed.
Thanks!
(Not quite a “duh” moment…but close! )

wall switch
Do you have a wall switch in addition to the remote or just a remote? A wall switch will let you open and close, set the speed and fan direction, and some other things. One of the wall switches in my coach broke a button and that model is no longer available so I ordered a smaller switch that still covered the hole in the wall behind it. Some of the button locations were different location but all still did what they were supposed to do. I don't have a remote in my coach. If I did I probably wouldn't use it as the wall switch is conveniently located.

A work around is to dis-engage the lift motor with the lid wide (or whatever you want) open. Pull down on the knob that manually operates the lid and it will disengage the motor. I haven't tried this and it could be that when you turn the fan off the lid motor will operate, perhaps continuously, waiting for the lid to close. Or this may not happen at all - just something to try.
