Yes, the hand crank also uses the same gearbox. Do you hear the motor run when you try to open with the buttons? if so, it's some little gears in the motor assembly. You can buy and replace the motor assembly from inside. If you don't hear it run, could be the motor itself, could be the controller board.

Lisa, on You Tube there are a few “how to” videos on repairing or replacing. I wonder since you replaced the motor that maybe there is a connection missed or not engaging properly.
Might look at those and see if something is amiss.
That metal part I replaced caused the cover to try and open/close repeatedly without actually doing so.

Well the Maxxair tech support said there's a 99% chance it was either the lift motor or the circuit board. Lucky me it was both! All fixed. Thanks for the replies.

How long did it take to get a new lift motor? I have been waiting for over a month and they don’t have an ETA….
