Maxxfan fanmate covers

Both of the rain sensors on my maxxfans have now failed.
Support was nice, and offered to send free replacement rain sensors (when they are allowed back in their office) but I'm thinking covers might be better solutions?

Has anyone used their FanMate accessory covers?
Do they keep the rain out?
White or black?

I have slightly different style covers, but effectively the same. Yes, they keep the rain out unless the wind is blowing hard from the rear of the coach, and even then it's just a theoretical leak as I've never experienced one. What's even better, those covers allow you to drive with the vent open, allowing air to circulate throughout the coach, if you wish.

I have used them on a previous coach that did not have rain sensor, they worked fine.

Agree with everyone else. I have had them on all of our previous coaches, but I prefer either smoked or white. I do have a white one for the Anthem despite the rain sensing kitchen fan, I just don't currently have a way onto the roof (all the previous motorhomes had ladders). Best of all, according to my drone video, the kitchen fan on our Anthem is the newer model fan where the cover does not have to actually be mounted... just secured over the base with the 4 included clips. +1 on driving with the vent open, something we like to do in the milder weather.

I have two. One for the front and one for the back bedroom. They have worked well for me and at no time can I recall any rain issues in the three years i have had them.

They also seem better with wind noise than the old standard vent covers that I had before putting the fan units in. I have noticed a difference with noise while driving with vents open. Having had both, I think these helped with that.

White or Black? I guess it would be a personal choice. I have the white and I am thinking the black would hide dirt better. But mine clean real well with just a quick wipe of soap and water when I am up there.

So yesterday I got up there to see about mounting those fan covers.

It kinda freaked me out that the fan lids were taller than the cover!
Also, the promised mounting tabs are no place to be seen.

Some further reading on the back page of the directions reveals the lid will stop when it hits the cover and this is normal for the cover to restrict the cover opening a couple inches.

I'm wondering about the mounting tabs though. Are they there, under that thick layer of black goop Entegra uses to seal any and all roof penetrations?

Has anyone else put these on their Entegra?

I'm guessing that maybe Entegra started using the attachment-pre-made fan vents later since my model year is 2019. I have pictures that are much closer where you can see the loops in the tabs for the MaxxFan clips, but I have to find those. In the meantime, here is a still from a drone overflight a couple days ago. You can even just barley see the opposite left side tabs in the shadowing on the picture. Concerning the fan vent cover striking the MaxxFan cover, we've had that on all our past motorhomes and were always told that the lid motors limit out once they hit something. It has not been a problem yet...

EDIT: Jim, when I enlarge your picture, I can see the points in the side of the vent cover where you drill to install the mounting bracket. Looks like your model is before the models with the loops.

Well poop. I guess I have to drill some holes and mount the brackets.
Vent cover is very close to the awning housing, it's not gonna be easy. Oh well.

Thanks Dewey!

Jim, I installed these on my 2017 Aspire and I will tell you it is a real pain because the top rail is in the way. I managed to get them on but it was a good thing no one was around to hear what came out of my mouth doing it. I put the smoked ones on and yes they do keep the rain out. I've had them on for 4 years now and just noticed they are starting to get a little brittle so I can see replacements coming up soon. There are mounting holes for the brackets that have little plastic covers over them, just pop them out and you can then screw in the bracket.
