The buttons on both of my original membrane switches cracked also. Entegra replaced them under warranty with the newer style. Wallpaper seam tape was used to cover the screw holes from the old switches, you can see it in the photo but in person it isn't noticeable unless you're searching for it. You can order the seam tape from Entegra parts, it comes in two widths.

Another option is to replace the switch with the infrared remote, the wall bracket may (or may not) cover the old switch holes better. The remote has a nice digital display.
