MCD Programming Shade Stops with Vega Touch
Can someone shed some light on what to expect when programming the MCD limits with the Vega Touch? I have read instructions and spent hours so want to make sure I am not missing something simple.
If I understand MCD's instructions, you must program the ignition on limits first and those settings affect the ignition off limits somehow. The problem is that when my ignition is on, the touch panel will not allow you to lower the shade. I can move it up, but not down. Assuming that is a safety feature but if I can not set the limits with ignition on, it appears that the ignition off limits are not being stored properly. Anyone have an idea around this? None of the steps I can find online or within our site seems to address this issue.

On the newer entegras, there is no ignition lock out. Are you able to program the settings without the ignition on? Do you have the same number wires on the new motor you had on the old one? I would try to program the shade without turning on the ignition and see if the shades program.

I have tried programming it multiple times with ignition off. When initially entering setup mode, 4 beeps, lower the shade, but no beeps after that indicating any of the stops are being stored. That is why I thought or was reading into the possibility I needed to perform the ignition on stops first. Just got off the phone with MCD tech support and verified I was doing things correctly, but they suggested that I may need to hard wire directly to a battery to eliminate the Vega Touch. Surprised at that since I have not read of anyone else having to do that.

I've never heard of that either. We have had to change wiring before on the shades due to changes in manufacturing. What was the issue with the old shades? Same issue?

The old one quite all together. The replacement works fine except the stops.

Have you tried to program them from the switches at the dash?

Greg, does the procedure you are using work for other shades that you have not changed the motor on? I reprogrammed several of my shades that had high or low set points that were slightly off without any issues. No ignition switch activation was required. I did it all from the vegatouch and the shade motor programming push button at each shade.

That was the only shade that needed programming and leery to mess with them.

I feel your frustration. Did you replace the day or night shade? If you did the day shade, use the dash switches instead of the Vegatouch. I just replaced both toll window motors. I had no issues programming the day shade as I used the dash switch. The night shade gave me a hard time since the only way to operate the night shade motor on my Anthem is via the Vegatouch or the master switch by the door. I ended up sending back the Black Pearl motor to where I bought it from per MCD recommendation since I could not set the limits. They also recommended and I did, to program the motor using a separate 12V source. It didn’t work on that motor hence the recommendation to return the motor.
I ended up buying a motor from Amazon just to give it a try. Almost a third of the price of the Black Pearl 50.338 motor. I have a feeling it won’t last very long but time will tell. I had no issues programming the limits using the Vegatouch on this motor. I believe the key is, on any motor, when programming using the Vegatouch to realize that when you just tap the UP or DOWN button, the motor is supplying a constant power until it’s tapped again or reversed. So what I am trying to say is disregard the instructions somewhat that comes with the motor because it refers to a conventional switch. ( it states to hold the switch UP or DOWN which the Vegatouch does by itself)
Sooooo, get the motor in programming mode by tapping the Vegatouch and pressing the programming button on the motor. Tap the Vegatouch when it’s at the UP or DOWN limit then reverse it for the opposite limit. Then tap the reverse direction again to get the motor out of programming mode.
Best of luck and let us know how it works out.
Sincerely, Tor
