Motion sensor light in bedroom closet 42DEQ
Anyone know how to adjust that motion sensor in the Aft Bedroom closet on Anthem? Ours trips the light on for no apparent reason all night.

I went through 3 factory switches and give up. Installed this one, no more problems. Also put one on the 21 before leaving the dealer. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There is no adjustment on the factory switch. I went through three factory switches and finally gave up. I installed this one that does have an adjustment and works. Also installed one on the 21 before leaving NIRVC. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

you can also try rotating it 180d so sensor faces back of closet....worked for me.

Here's a link to a thread that discusses the closet light sensor and solution: https://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/bed...ht-438146.html
Reader's Digest condensed version is that the sensor suggested above has worked for some, but, not all (I'm in that group). The adjustment on the sensor, according to provided info isn't a sensitivity adjustment, rather a duration adjustment. I installed a blocking diode in the ground wire to that sensor that solved the problem. Others have had similar (100%. I believe) with the diode installation.
The light didn't bother me, I slept right through the light. I couldn't, however, sleep through the persistent elbow to my ribs each time it turned on.
Good luck.
Take care,
Stu

I went through 3 replacements and finally just cut out the motion sensor and installed a switch. Not as handy but we can sleep at night.

What is the function of the "blocking" diode, and what diode did you use?

Justin, the Tech at NIRVC told me when I changed my switch that Entegra informed him he could no longer use diodes. Said it was causing some kind of problem. I don't know what that would be, but what was relayed to me. Justin is petty sharp on electronics, he was a radar technician in the USMC.

Hi Gary,
My '18 Anthem was afflicted with the phantom closet light. I tried a variety of shields placed in front of the OEM sensor with no success. I replaced the OEM sensor with one of these
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
which had been suggested by others as having solved their problem. It didn't fix it for me. There is an adjustment on that sensor, however, the adjustment is for duration rather than sensitivity.
I had, at that time, read of a dealer's tech (perhaps the highly regarded Justin) who had come up with a solution that required installation of a diode in the wiring to the sensor. That description was somewhat vague, as I recall, but, seemed to be worth a try. By that time, my ribs were bruised from DW's jabbing any time the phantom decided to turn on the closet light. The circuit breaker for that light is in mid-bath and simply popping that circuit breaker was a solution, it wasn't a good choice for me. That circuit breaker powers the closet light and the engine compartment light. I had already wired my TPMS repeater to the engine compartment light, so disabling the circuit to keep the closet light off had the negative effect of killing the TPMS repeater. Too much circuit breaker play to make that all work (pop it before bed, reset it before driving).
I ordered some of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and found that after installing one diode into the ground wire for the sensor so as to block any current flowing from the ground to the sensor, the light works flawlessly. Turns on when the closet is opened, stays on for a while and then turns off. It has never turned on unexpectedly since I installed the diode.
My best guess (and it's only a guess, not based on deep knowledge of electronic wizardry) is that there was some sort of feedback from ground to the sensor that was triggering it to turn on. Blocking that feedback fixed the problem.

My '18 isn't as electronically sophisticated as the '19's and newer. I couldn't even begin to guess how a blocking diode on the ground wire to a motion sensor in the closet could cause a problem.
The only problem I've had since I installed the blocking diode is that I tagged a utility box while maneuvering and caused about $600 worth of paint damage. I don't think that's related to the diode.
OK, that's not the only problem I've had since I installed the diode.
Take care,
Stu

Hi Stu & Sue,
Just the facts!
DW is extremely light sensitive. I've even fashioned some covers over the bedroom MultiPlex switches. Even when those are dimmed, they bother her. If she doesn't sleep well...well, you know the rest.
Take care,
Stu
