I carry a complete set of filters and belts also in the basement.... wise expenditure of money IMO. I get my oil changed every 10,000 to 12,000 miles at Speedco, and I simply ask them to use my filters and give me their new filters to put in the basement to replace the ones I give them. Has worked well, and I always have a complete set on board.

And my only problem with a fuel filter was the opposite of others.... Speedco put the filter on not-tight-enough and the loose filter O-ring gasket seal permitted sucking air into the fuel line which made the 605hp Cummins starved for fuel on fast accelerations or steep hill climbs. That cost me $1,000 to get figured out!!!!

BTW, Cat C7 engines can be a real bear to start if they run out of fuel. There are a few tricks to make it easier, but bottom line once they are out of fuel, turning the key off and on won't do a thing.
Great point, I just bought a Maintenance Kit for an Anthem to carry along just in case. I will lube the filters and seal them. Thank You

Definitely a great post. Extra filters are also necessary when you get some sediment in the tank which gets picked up in the fuel lines. Especially when the coach gets a few years on the clock, it's not unheard of to have a fuel filter clog up to where power is reduced.

What is in a Spartan Care Kit? Is it date/coach specific? Can it be ordered?
Tks,
Pat

It includes filters and belts. You can order directly from Spartan

Check this ink: https://www.spartanrvchassis.com/chassis-care-kits/

I got mine at a Spartan Academy in 2018. It's nice in that the large box uses foam in place to hold all the contents in place.

I also recall seeing them for sale at North Trail RV Parts & Service Center in Fort Myers, FL.

I believe that Spartan customarily offers a 5% discount on parts purchased during the month of November. At least, they have offered that discount the past two years.

Take care,
Stu

Darjacob --

Glad your incident didn't become a disaster! I too have the Fleetguard FF63009 fuel filter on my Cummins 360 HP, 6.7L ISB engine. Did you confirm your leak came from the filter gasket area or could the plastic filter housing have cracked to cause a leak?

For forum members not familiar with the FF63009 filter, Cummins has good, short video for that filter --> https://youtu.be/HfDkf5SPITA

I too carry a spare fuel filter and spare water separator / filter with me at all times along with a gallon can of diesel. I do need to order a spare serpentine belt to have "just in case".

Yes, I had my wife start the motor and saw it spraying out of the top. I thought the housing could have been cracked too. But replacing the filter solved the problem. I've put about 600 miles on it since the incident. Personally, I think that filter system is cheaply made. Everything is plastic.
