New Head Unit - Overhead GPS on TV going Blank on Brake Release

I replaced my original Riverpark head unit with a newer version due to the old one not working. I purchased the 6" display unit, Riverpark XSG2NA-X2SM, and installation was plug and play using the same plugs and wires. Everything is good, except the displaying of the GPS on the front overhead TV when I release the parking Brake - It loses the video signal.

I have the safety power plug in the overhead compartment completely unplugged, and the TV just plugged into the standard outlet. I looked at the parking brake, and there is one plug to it with black and white wires. The display works fine showing the GPS on the TV with the parking brake set.

Is there a connection on the back of the unit that is disabling the video once the brake is released? My old unit would display the GPS fine when bypassing the safety plug over the passenger seat front cabinet.

Interesting...mine will NOT show GPS until the parking brake is released. If the brake is set, it will show the radio (or whatever else was last selected)Maybe yours is wired backward in that it shows the map with the brake engaged?

Stew, I think since mine is a 2013, it was not wired that way since I have the safety plug "box" in the overhead that the TV plugs into - the TV would not turn on (or power off) when moving, so easy to bypass, just unplug from that black box and plug into the other plug. These new(er) units don't seem to use that power feature to disable the video.

Found a work around. (love U-Tube) I don't recommend this, but I just tried to see if it would work.

There is a "Parking Brake" wire in the main plug wiring harness in the back of the unit. If that wire is unplugged, and tied into the ground wire of the radio, it will display on the TV.

Of course, I left it alone.
