New ride height issue
Hi folks. Looking for some advice here. After returning from my recent trip I noticed an air leak (loud hissing noise) which I believe is the tag airbags deflating. The engine was off and both Lisa and I heard it. I toggled the tag dump button a couple times and it stopped. Today it would not reach ride height and the hissing came back. I rebooted the leveler breaker located in the basement and it stopped again. This sounds like a sticky valve. My back is such that crawling underneath and pulling the lanyards may not be possible. I plan to raise it up on jacks later and try to defy my imminent pain from crawling around like a bug..
Any ideas where to look other than checking the lanyards?

Bruce, it sounds like it might be a ride height valve. I have had two of them go out. One in front, one in the rear. The 14 was delivered with a bad front ride height valve. They can go bad on a new coach. Might get lucky and just the adjustment rod has slipped off, that's an easy fix.

After rebooting the main breaker it has reached ride height. Looks like another repair to add to the Spartan list in October

Glad it fixed itself. Don’t be under coach on jacks while emptying air tanks please.
If you can see your lanyards - I took a small 4” paint roller frame, bent it into a hook shape. The handle can be screwed on to my wash pole extension. I can pull the lanyards without getting under there.
Yours may be unreachable though.
Regards

Spoke with our chassis tech and he said it sounds like the valve is sticking. It can be replaced under warranty. Check the boot like mentioned before. But if it keeps bypassing air, it needs to be replaced.

I hadn't drained the air in a good while. They definitely spit some moisture out. I went in sequence several rotations in order to dry them out. There aren't any lanyards in the rear except the safe haul lanyard in the DEF bay. I drained that also. I'll see what happens now when I move the coach again this afternoon.
Thank you

IMO, there is something wrong with your set up. I drive a 2019 Cornerstone which came off the line in May/June 2018, and I have never gotten ANY water or moisture out of my purge valves.... If you are getting some on your much newer coach, then IMO, you have a moisture penetration problem. Your air dryer canister might be in bad shape or I wonder if you have air bypassing the air dryer system. Your situation does not seem normal.

How often do you replace the canister?

I believe the air dryer canister is recommended to be replaced every 24 months. Easy to replace and not very expensive. Just like diesel filters, not worth delaying replacement.

I replace mine yearly or every 2 years at worst and have seen recommendations on the proper interval to change from Spartan and Cummins and the yearly or every other year are in line with their recommendations.

Thanks everyone. I'll grab a canister and change it out.

The air dryer service is often overlooked. Every 2 years it does need the filter replaced. If you wait too long, then the whole assembly gets replaced as it’s cheaper than the rebuild.

To add to that, if operated in humid climate such as FL, the canisters expire more quickly, and the 2 year is max.

Bruce, completely bleed the air system before trying to replace the air dryer cartridge. The easiest way to do that is to just pull the three lanyards until all air is blead from the tanks. A heavy duty strap wrench is the tool of choice.
Take care,
Stu
