New (to me) Spartan safety recall
I’ve read on this forum that others have experienced intermittent instrument cluster failures. I’ve experienced that at least twice myself but the cluster came back on within seconds. Spartan proposes to reprogram the instrument cluster to “allow operation at a higher temperature “ and secure the HVAC duct work to the louvers. The recall applies to all Spartan chassis (K1, K2, K3, and K4) equipped with the Valid cluster for model years 2018-2022. Recall should take about an hour. Perhaps I can finagle a complete software update and get them to reprogram my tire sensors at the same time.

That would be fantastic. The entire TPMS was suppose to be programmed to work two years ago. So far it is only working on a small number upon delivery.

Can someone provide the link to the announcement. Frankly, what is on here doesn't make much sense to me (relevance of it to TPMS????)

The only relevance to the TPMS is the fact that the coach will be at Spartan for the recall on the instrument cluster. I intend to ask them to reprogram the TPMS temp settings while there. Alternatively, Gary you could loan me your programming device and show me how to use it. I promise to send it back immediately.
Recall number is: 21V-589 from Spartan.

Dan
I am on the road in Wyoming right now (it's getting cold up here.... ) or I would do that.
There has to be someone who is still doing that job (loaning programmers) if Don Rigby is out of the "support business".
Does anyone know who is providing that service now??
Gary

Don is retired as of end of July. I visited with him and he loaned me a tool to reset my base line. He told me the factory setting was 85 lbs on drive and Tag axles. At that cold PSI the alarm will go off at 102 lbs. I run 90 on my drive and Tag couple that with ambient temps 95-100 deg and it doesn’t take long to get to 102 lbs.
I think he will still help a guy out, at least until Valor makes him send all the tools back to Canada.

Thank you for that update. That has been my problem and complaint since day one with the 19. The TPMS does not have enough temperature variation for those of us that live in hot climates. If Valor would set the temp variation wide enough, like off the shelf TPMS, it would probably be a great system. Now that the programmers are difficult to get and Valor/Spartan/Entegra will not include them with the systems the problem of constant dash warnings will probably continue. A factory adjustment that was going to take place in 2019 would solve the problem, but that never happened. JMO

Temp alarms should be user settable. In addition to the wide variations in outside temps because of geographical locations everyone does not run 85 psi in the rears. My weight requires 95 psi in the tags and with the alarm set at 102 I’m constantly in alarm status.
