That is good information to know, even about the manual shades. I remember my old manual day/night shades....after they aged they had to be restrung. That was a chore as well.

All

Thanks again for the quick responses and 'secrets'. I called Entegra and they 'ordered' the motors and have shipped the to me. I should have them tomorrow night and will install Saturday. We are heading to Tom Sawyer RV park Sunday (Memphis, TN) and on to St Louis on Wednesday for my grandson's birthday.

Wish me luck and that sling looks, like a great secret.

Thanks all!

Ok gang. I received my motors but no instructions. Does anyone have any instructions? Do I need to run the wire all the way to the rocker switch or can I splice it in, etc?

Thanks for the help

Hi Jeff, remove the outer panel inside of the cabinets above the windshield, 5-6 screws each with white heads that blend in with the carpet lining. Once removed you should be able to easily find the motor wires which will have quick connect plugs. The red motors have an extra wire(Brown) that is not required and can be cut off the motor. Pretty easy task. Did you get the instructions to program the motor after installation?

Thank you very much. The night shade I need to replace is the front windshield / passenger side and I have the TV above. So are you saying the wiring goes ithru there? Yes I have the programming instructions from Entegra below:

Thanks again
Jeff

United Shade Programming:

1) Press and hold the up or down button(opposite direction of the current position of the fabric) and the valet/programming button on the shade motor simultaneously until you get 3 confirmation beeps. *Usually takes about 5 seconds*

2) Release the valet/programming button and wall switch. The motor now in programing mode.

3) Press direction switch again and release. Your shade will start traveling. As you get close to the desired stopping point you can press the directional button one more time to stop the travel and then continue to press the button making the shade move in small ¼” increments. This is a fine tuning process.

4) Once you have that limit set then you will press and release the opposite direction on your switch(changing directions locks in that limit). Allow the shade to travel close to your desired stopping point then press the same directional button one more time to stop the travel and then continue to press the button making the shade move in small ¼” increments. This is a fine tuning process.

5) Once you are at your desired stopping point then change directions one more time. You should hear a couple confirmation beeps confirming that your up and down limits have been successfully programed.

YOU CAN VIEW A PROGRAMMING VIDEO ON UNITED SHADES WEBSITE. IGNORE THE IGNITION PROGRAMMING PART. OUR IGNITION LOCKOUT IS BUILT INTO OUR MULTIPLEX SYSTEM IF UNIT IS EQUIPPED WITH.

On my classic, there are no plugs or anything hard about the wiring. Pull the wires out of the hole under the shade, leaving enough slack to remove the motor, the cut the wires. Splice the new wire with small wire nuts that will fit back in the hole.

I had the wiring bookmarked thanks to Gizmo. Since we no longer have a search function good idea for other Classic owner to bookmark Gizmos post.

Jeff. You can do as Brobox suggests or you can go into the cabinet above the windshield on the passenger side and remove the panel on your right side as you look into the cabinet. You will find the shade motor wires in there and the quick connects. Fairly straightforward.

Well thanks to everyone's advice I was able to replace my motor. I pulled out the TV and found the wires, cut and spliced in the new and tested. Driver side went down passenger up Reversed the wires and both now go up and down together.

So, once again the help of this forum to the rescue. I might not have beaten Brobox's record 28 minutes (took 68 ). Brobox's your sling idea was a godsend!

Again thanks everyone. Now off to Tom Sawyer RV park tomorrow in Memohis, TN. Hope to see y'all down the road.

Keep it safe

Glad it's working. On you next shade motor, side window, etc. there will be no easy way to get to the shade wires. Just pull the wires out and cut them. That's how you make the job 28 minutes instead of 68 minutes.
