No 12 volt power to basement freezer

We thought we might have had an issue when we put the coach away for winter. Just tried the freezer on the 12 volt adaptor and get no power. I verified that the outlet is fine. It powers a small compressor no problem. Pulled the fuse and it looks fine. Checked that the connections appear to be good. I wonder can the fuse look good and still be blown? I will try to pick one up tomorrow and try. Anybody have any thoughts as to other possible causes?

Thanks,

Bill

Do the 17's still have 12v outlets in the basement?

I don't know about the '17's but the '18's do.

Thanks Dan. If the outlet is working, remove the cord from the freezer and check it with a volt meter, no power, bad cord.....power, start checking the freezer. The 12v power supply went bad in my old freezer in the Travel Supreme. There use to be a fuse in the old units, but I don't know about the newer units.

Thanks Brobox. Yes the freezer has an ac plug and a 12v cigarette lighter plug. Both types outlet are side by side in basement. Maybe a fuse in freezer. But I should mention freezer works fine on AC power.

One thing I haven't yet checked is whether the AC outlet for the freezer works off the inverter. If so at least (if I don't find the problem) we won't have to keep generator running to power freezer

We have the same problem. I only realized it after seeing that some frozen meat had thawed when we changed locations (7 hour drive). Otherwise freezer works great and I love having it.

The 19's basement plugs are not on inverter and have no power while traveling. Quickest fix is to plug a power strip into the Matrix outlet, it's on inverter, and run it over to the freezer.

So is the matrix outlet is just a female outlet on the inverter that I need to plug into. If so this will be a great solution since we are hoping to start travelling tomorrow or Thursdsay.

I wonder what year that started. The 19's don't even have a 12v outlet for the freezer. There will be some changes on mine.

Brobox. I meant to say "no power via inverter". We do have an inverter and will try the fix you suggested by running a cord from inverter to freezer. Great to avail of your wisdom.

Bill, I don't know if the 17's basement are on inverter or not. Someone with a 17 will have to answer that questions. If the 17's are on inverter, it might be the basement circuit breaker tripped or a GFI outlet tripped.

I did go up to hdgoldie's 19 to try to move the basement circuit breaker over to the inverter side for their freezer, it's not that easy and would be an all day project, but at least I got to see the wiring for the 19's. Too bad so many previous owners killed batteries by leaving freezers on and Entegra took all inverter power out of the basements.

Rick showed me that the Matrix was on inverter, so it would be easy to to mount a power strip above the freezer outlet, or wire the freezer outlet to the Matrix outlet.

If your 12v outlet has power, after checking the cord with a volt meter or test light, the old (pre Entegra) freezers had a separate 12v power supply, located where the 12v cord plugs in, there was a glass fuse on those older units. I don't have a new one to look at to see if they do, might check the owners manual.

Will see what I can figure out BroBox. Thanks. I did try other basement outlets and none appear to work on the inverter. I am not familiar with what the "matrix" is and I couldn't find an outlet on the inverter. I just pulled out the manuals and will start to read. What does the matrix look like?
