Noise drivers side slide
I got in the basement and found this. The slide is tearing up the aluminum layer of the floor. Has anyone seen this before? I sent an email to Entegra service two days ago and so far no response.

Call Customer Service. Those folks are busy. If you call, you know someone will look at the picture. BTW, first I have seen something like this, but suggests slide alignment may a little out of sorts.

Also would follow up with a phone call. It might need to go up to someone that has construction experience on the line such as Jacob or PJ. Even Ted Cook if you are fortunate to catch him in the office.

Let us know what they say. That is not something I have seen before, curious to what the cause might be.

Well I did not want to have to call but I sent the pics on Tue. And again on Thursday but still no response. I guess I will have to call. Since the coach is out of warranty they may tell me to pound sand. I just want to know what the issue is and what it takes to fix it.

I can guarantee, from experience, they won't tell you to pound sand just because your coach is out of warranty. They probably won't pay for the repair but they will diagnose the issue with you and recommend a repair.

That's certainly my experience (with their willingness to work issues), but calling gets a more timely response.

I talked to Jacob. They are trying to help me. No one has any idea so far but they gave me a ton more things to check.
Christmas vacations has these guys really behind.

Lets try this again.
Looks like a broken bearing. I'm worried about the weight on the whole assembly.
It will not be that hard to change the bearing but how much weight is on the whole assembly? I have to remove the weight before I can remove the pillow block assembly (sort of looks like a pillow block)

Doug, we have an RBQ and i was looking at the bearing setups on the drivers side front slide to offer suggestions. I will probably have to do this one day myself with my luck so any upfront knowledge is good.....
If the slide is out my first thought would be to jack on the end of the slide to unload the bearing.
some cribbing under the basement floor to support it would provide a solid jack surface in the basement directly under the bearing to jack there.
If I understand it correctly and am looking at the same bearing, by moving the slide in and out there will be a point where the balance should shift and put the least load on the bearing which would be the point to work on it at. I would watch the bearing and use the remote to move the slide to tty and find the least loaded point. Also a heavy duty ratchet strap could also tie off the channel and pull it one way or the other.
I think hawgdriver or someone else had a similar bearing replacement recently they documented on the forum but I did not find it in a search but I'll try again as I know it is there.
That bearing looks like it is trying to spit the balls out the side of the races??? Is that what I am seeing? Looks like a seriously overloaded bearing or impact failure or too much side loading for what reason I do not know.
I'll do more peering under our coach as these types of failure keep me awake thinking about them happening.

This is at the rear of the drivers side front slide. The shaft that runs from the slide motor to just in front of the Aquahot. The bearing is behind a small cover that I removed. Other than the last foot or so (coming in) the slide does not make any noise and looks to move just fine. In my opinion there should be no weight on the shaft. Zero other than the weight of the shaft itself. I made a living as a young man being a auto mechanic (before they started calling themselves "Techs"). I can handle the bearing change and figure out how to get the weight off the bearing but I want to know what is causing the bearing to have so much weight on it. If I am seeing what I think I'm seeing the bearing has been sheared. That would take a lot of weight. I can only assume the same issue that broke the bearing is also what has caused the wire chase to tear into the floor bottom. (Jacob told me that piece of tubing is only used as a wire chase).

That is a great file to have and I saved it. I need to look at the gap outside to see what is happening (I think it is good) but the popping noise starts way before the slide is all the way in.
