North East Pa Roads Rt 125

Anyone in the Shamokin area have any idea how state Rt 125 is from say around I81 up to Shamokin. Looking to get into the Anthricite Outdoor Adventure Area on 125 just south of Shamokin. 45 ft Aspire, not towing.
Thanks,
Paul

North East Pa Roads Rt 125

Was there some years ago for a mountain bike race.
SR125 from I-81 is pretty twisty with some switchbacks and a couple ridges to cross. That said the road was in good shape for a PA road . I havenít been through there in an RV but there was some pretty good size rigs when I was there.

Rick, Thanks. I think I will take a test ride in my Jeep today. About 2 hrs each way.

went in via 81 - 901-125 last year, roads were good except for hills and turns and the switch back right near the park.
We were camped Twin grove and drove over, next trip I was planning to camp at AOAA and come in from Shamokin side up 15

Pa 125

I took my test drive yesterday, Only an hour! I live just off 309 on the south side of the Blue mountain. So 309 n, to 54, to 81, to 901, to High rd, to the 45 degree rt turn on 125, then the switch back. Looks very doable. Gonna try it today with the rid. Fingers crossed.

I looked at that on a map, Definitely looks like the better RV route. We got off at US209 to also check out the Rausch Creek ORP.

Pa Rt 125

Made the trip yesterday up to the AOAA. No problems other than Pa roads suck. 309 through Tamaqua is like driving the Oregon Trail. 54 okay, just little bumps, 901 not much better. 81 good. The 45 degree right hand turn onto 125 just need to plan and get in the oncoming lane and swing wide. The switchback has plenty of room. Think i got up to maybe 20 MPH up the grade.
Thanks to those who commented. The son and grandson had a good day riding.

I was riding a short step stool while I worked on polishing wheels. My son has a 400 Honda Quad and a 300 for the 11 year old grandson. I took the rig up as a support vehicle. Needed to run it and made a day out of it. Generator got some good exercise. All in all a good day.
Thanks, Paul
