Odor in macerator hose closet

Anyone else have problems with a very stinky hose closet? The storage bin for the Thetford Sanicon hose just smells something awful and I can't seem to get rid of the smell (or even knock it down a notch or two).

If I leave the little door open and the wind is coming from that side of the coach the smell seems to seep into the cabin. Which really ruins the day!

I can find no evidence of leakage anywhere and while I can understand that it would be normal for some stink here, the level is just way out of bounds.

Any thoughts or solutions would be appreciated.

do you rinse the hose with grey and then clear water when finishing dumping ?
then put the cap on the end of the hose ?

Check and see if one of your cam locks is loose. Other than that, rinse twice with fresh water then pour a cup or so of cheap dish soap and cheap pine sol, fill up with fresh water again to create suds and it run through the macerator. The hose, tank and macerator chamber will smell clean and fresh.

Agree with the previous posters. It’s a sealed system, so you shouldn’t have extraordinary smells unless something else is going on.

Thanks all for your responses.

Yes, I absolutely do the full process for dump (most of the time). And for the Entegra's cute dump handle, you'd pretty much have to cap it, or things would be even worse.

There are no quick connect cam locks in use, this is hardwired using hose clamps -- and again, no visible leakage.

I will absolutely try a more thorough multi-step cleaning as you suggested. I hadn't thought about working the problem in an inside-out approach.

Thanks!

The Sanicon hose is connected with a cam lock inside the hose compartment.

That is dependent on what year. Older coaches were Hose clamped.
