Entegra Esteem / Odyssey
Congratulations on your Entegra Odyssey.
My wife and I bought a 2022 Entegra Esteem 27u in April 2022. Your RV and ours are very similar in many respects.
The first thing I suggest you do is go through your RV thoroughly and make sure everything is working and is where it should be. You only have a 2-year warranty, if you bought it new, and it takes time to get warranty work done.
Here is a list of things that were problems we had from the start:
1) If it's difficult to drive, get the front end aligned. No one tells you about this at a dealership. Ours handled horribly until we got it aligned. Our dealer reimbursed us after I asked. Also, Entegra will reimburse you too, but I've heard it must be done in the first 90 days.
2) Our rear AC did not work from the beginning. The RV went to two shops and no tech could figure it out. Finally, I saw a video online with an Entegra owner who had a problem with his wiring at the thermostat. So a friend and I pulled the thermostat off to check the wire. One wire had not been stripped at all. We stripped it, connected it, and the AC kicked into life.
3) Our Winegard Connect 2.0 would not work. One shop said they fixed it. They did not. I called Winegard, who sent me a new unit. I took the new unit to a dealer who installed it and it worked. The tech said the positive and negative wires were reversed at the factory, causing the Winegard to short out.
4) We had a leak above the bunk. I inspected the roof and found a tiny hole in the sealant around the XM satellite antenna. I sealed it again, and the hole was filled. No more leak.
5) Entegra told me would could run our water pressure at 60 psi. On our second camping trip, we had a major leak inside the RV from taking a shower. Long story short, none of the lines burst, but the 60 psi is too much. We run it at 45 psi and have never had a problem again.
6) Check your water filter to see if it's actually there. I was told by the tech when we purchased the RV that the water filter was installed. But this fall when winterizing, I found out there was no filter in the canister. (Good thing we use two filters on the outside of the RV.)
7) On our first trip, as we pulled into the campground, my check engine light came on and the engine was ticking. Long story short, a tech at a muffler shop plugged into the RV to check the code, which said we were running two cylinders short. He crawled underneath and found two spark plug wires hanging. Once he plugged them in, the problem was fixed.
8) During the summer, we kept having water dripping down and leaking from inside the refrigerator. Come to find out, our refrigerator never had its drip tray put inside it. I called Norcold and they sent me a drip tray.
9) We have solar and the Go Power controller says one battery bank is at 0 volts, while the other has voltage. No one has been able to tell me why. All of the batteries work just fine, thank goodness. (If you do have solar, download the Go Power app for your phone. No one will tell you about this. But it gives you the same information that your controller in the RV shows you. Mine is installed an inch off the floor sideways, so it's difficult to read.)
10) We were missing two cup holders in the bunk when we bought it. It took about two months for my dealer to send me two new ones. Entegra would not send them to me.
11) One of the storage bays would not lock when we bought the RV. Luckily, a dealer did fix that right away.
12) The bathroom door also would not close when we bought it. A dealer fixed that quickly too.
13) At the end of summer, we noticed that one of the decals that go over the driver side on the outside front of the RV on the cab was missing. We are in touch with a dealer who said they would get a new decal from Entegra to install it. But we're spinning our wheels trying to get the dealer to get the decal.
OK. Don't freak out after reading all of that. I'm just trying to emphasize that quality control is lacking at the factory. Therefore, turn everything on and off, look over everything thoroughly. Go through all of your manuals and register them for warranties. (That's a tedious and long process, but worth it.)
On the positive side, my wife and I had never camped before, and right now, despite all of the headaches, we love our RV.
What's great about it?
1) Ours is 30 feet. It's not too big, but it's also not too small. For my wife, our dog, and me, it's perfect.
2) I really like having the quick connect to the propane for grilling.
3) Having a ladder on the back is great. It's much easier to check things on the roof and to wash the roof.
4) The shower is bigger than many RVs. It is comfortable for me to take a shower. And the overhead bar to hang wet clothes/towels from in the shower is fantastic.
5) We put a small fan in the bunk and it blows back into the living space. We also open a drawer in the back of the RV in the bedroom and put one of the sink covers over it. This works great to place a second fan in the bedroom for extra circulation.
6) We both like how easy it is to back up, especially with the camera. Of course, we always have someone outside directing, just to be safe.
7) I don't know if your wet bay has a black tank flush, but if it does, you'll love it. It's easy to use, too. (I never use it with the black tank closed. It's always open when I turn on the flush.)
Feel free to ask me any questions you may have. The folks on this site have helped me tremendously, so if I can help others it's worth it.
Good luck!
