Oh gosh, and I apologize for another tire thread

I think I can't figure out how to read the charts at the Michelen site.

Just had the coach weighed. Fronts are 315/80 R22.5 and the total weight on the front is 16,600 lbs.
The drive and tag are both 295/80 R22.5 and the drive axle is 17,350 lbs while the tag is 9500 lbs.

315/80 chart:

295/80:

I'm guessing the charts show weights on each end of the axle. So if my drive axle is averaged out to 8700 per axle end (side), it shows 75psi. Does that sound correct ?

Any tire guru's out there that can set me straight ?

Thanks,
Ken

I see where the 125 on the front comes from. But where did you get 85 on the rears? Drive axle is ~8700 on each end. Tag is 4750.

Thank you for the reply !

Spartan, and probably Michelin, doesn’t recommend going below 85 psi due to sidewall flex.

Thank you ! That's why I was concerned about the pressure on the charts. Good stuff to know.

Never go below the lowest pressure shown on the charts.

Just because your drive axle weighs 17,300 does not mean that it is equally distributed. This is the reason weighing axles doesn’t get you where you need to go and the reason to have each side weighed separately. Then base your pressure on the higher of the two sides and I use about a 10% margin. Michelin recommends on most tires 85PSI as a minimum pressure.

Yes, I did have "four corner" weighing done. I was trying to make certain I was reading the charts correctly.

4 corner weights are the only way to go and of course you have to do it with the coach fully loaded for travel plus full water and diesel and you and the copilot sitting in your seats. Otherwise the weights are pretty meaningless!

I ran 122# in the fronts and 85 in all the rears on my 15 Anthem with 315s on the front and 295s all the rest. Rode great
